I honestly only took the percocet for a few days... maybe 4 or 5 days. I never had any pains inside of me, which I thought was bizarre. My incisions from the laparoscope were a little tender if I touched them. I had hip pain and lower back pain like a period was coming on. I took the pain pills for that and kept a heating pad on my lower back when sitting on the couch. I did have to sleep with myself propped up on pillows, because lying flat was not comfortable, plus getting out of bed was a little difficult when lying flat. I would try short walks with your dog after the first week or two and build up from there. My doctor as well as other women warned me that the pain would be small but the fatigue would be the worst part. They were right! I had to take naps during the day and really just had no energy or stamina. I am still trying to build my stamina back up. It is easy to forget all of the healing that must take place inside! Plus, my ovaries stopped working after the surgery. The doctor said it is expected and quite common. The ovaries get "stunned" from the surgery and kind of go to sleep. It goes away and they wake up, though, so do not worry! You will be fine! Afterwards, you will have such a sense of relief and peace of mind. That's priceless! I have had surgeries before, and it really was the easiest recovery that I have experienced! I have NO regrets! I did have a problem with gas and BMs postop. I took Milk of Magnesia. Once I finally went to the bathroom, I had no more problems. The gas pains weren't fun... my belly got very swollen from all of the gas they put inside your abdomen. Let me know how you are doing when you feel up to it!

      Hugs,
      Terri

Hi Genny! I just want to wish you well on your surgery. I got really nervous 2 days before my hyst. You will be fine... I promise! I feel great now at almost 7 weeks post op! I can do anything I want... no restrictions, no pain or tenderness. The surgery and recovery weren't as bad as I thought they'd be. I had an LAVH done, so the recovery is quicker and easier. I feel wonderful knowing that there is no more cancer in there! It was the best decision I could have made! Please let me know how you are doing and post when you are home from surgery, ok? Also, feel free to ask ANY questions! We have all asked them, from postop gas and BMs to sex! :) Take care and know that you are in my prayers!

      Hugs,
      Terri

Hi Genny! Our stories are sooo similar! I am 6 weeks postop. They took everything except my ovaries because of cervical/uterine cancer. I was so scared, but everything went well! I knew that I had to do this so that I can be around a long time for my son. I am divorced...VERY single (haven't dated in forever!) I do not regret having it at all. The doctor said the cancer had not gone all the way through the uterine tissue, it was only 2/3 into the tissue, so I didn't need any chemo or radiation! :) I can see the good and the bad in going through this without a boyfriend/spouse. It would be nice to already have someone in my life that would love me through this and after this. The support and love would be awesome. However, if I had a SO, I would feel pressure (from myself, not him probably) to get back to the old me and sex. I would also feel anxious if things weren't the same. I am so thankful that I don't have that looming over my head. I was not interested in dating before my surgery, and I am even less interested now. I know that IF I am ever ready, these anxieties will be on the forefront. I will deal with them then... not worry about them now. Just take this time to be your own bestfriend and take care of you. Everything will be fine!

      Hugs,
      Terri

Hey there how r ya doing?Lol. I had the surgery 8 weeks ago but not the da vinci. I have one ovary left but no cervix. Don't worry about anything ok? We all fear this procedure terribly as its about the most threatening surgery that can be done to us..... You will come through it great, I don't know anyone that hasn't so here's a huge hug for ya...! Sharon xxx
