    • Close Chronic Pain

I am a 24 year old female who has had CP for the last 4 years. I am also a doctorate of physical therapy student.

      Treatments

      Acupressure Somewhat Helpful
This was somewhat helpful. Temporary relief, but no long-term benefits.
      Cymbalta Not Working
This worked well for about a year. I then started to experience racing thoughts.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Works well most of the time. In severe flare ups, it just knocks me out.
      Lidoderm Somewhat Helpful
Stopped irritation from clothing. My back pain was hypersensitive to touch prior to my first back surgery.
      Lyrica Not Working
This had a reverse effect on me. This drug actually was the key to diagnosing my leg pain as originating from my lumbar spine. It increased my leg pain symptoms instead of decreasing them.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
Helps me fall asleep, but I never stay asleep.
      Naproxen Not Working
      not strong enough.
      Nerve Blocks Not Working
These did not help at all.
      Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
As I got worse, this didn't help. And I lost my short-term memory.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
Pilates based core strengthening program has worked the best for my instability problems. McKenzie is pointless.
      TENS Working / Worked
      GREAT!
      Prolotherapy Somewhat Helpful
Stabilizes my bilateral SI joints for about 34 weeks.
    • Close Back Pain

I am 24 year old female with chronic LBP for about 4 years. I have had 2 lumbar spine surgeries. I am also a doctorate of physical therapy student.

      Treatments

      Acupressure Not Working
      Short-term benefits
      Acupuncture Not Working
      Short-term benefits
      Bedrest Not Working
Didn't help. My symptoms would calm down during flare ups. However, this would decrease my functional abilities.
      Cortisone (Injection) Not Working
      Never worked
      Epidural Injection Not Working
      Never worked.
      Heat Not Working
NEVER helpful! I have to sleep on ice packs at night. I usually ice 1-2x during the day as well.
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
Normally diminishes my pain. Less effective during severe flare-ups. Helps me sleep.
      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
Was never helpful prior to my 2nd surgery. However, it is now beneficial for my daily aches/pains without making my drowsy. (Beneficial for during my class day when I can't take hydrocodone)
      Naproxen Not Working
      Not strong enough.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
Pilates core stabilization program has worked the best. McKenzie is not worthwhile if instability is the key impairment.
      Prolotherapy Working / Worked
SI joint stabilization maintained for about 34 weeks decreased poppingclunking
      Relaxation Working / Worked
Diminished symptoms during flare up. Good for when my endurance has hit low points
      Stretching Not Working
      BAD for instability!
      TENS Working / Worked
      GREAT!
      Trazodone Too Soon to Tell
Just started on this medication to help with sleep will update how it goes
    • Open Anxiety

Anxiety is part of my family history. I didn't really start to have problems with it until I began suffering from chronic low back pain. I was crying all of the time, and was really upset about the state of my life.

      Treatments

      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
Help calm me down during anxiety attacks
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
Some days this helps, some days not...
      Celexa Working / Worked
For the current moment this is helping control anxiety and depression. I feel great most of the times. I occassionally experience rushing thoughts but I have learned how to deal with them.
