    • About Me

Hi Everyone. Where to begin .. I'm the primary caregiver in my household. I have a wonderful husband (retired/disabled) who has been diagnosed with Behcet's, his condition is somewhat stable, but there are moments when times are very rough. I'm a mom to step-children who are young adults and trying to cope with the ups and downs of their father's Behcet's, along with my ups and downs with my depression and anxiety, and the growing pains of life. One step-child (disabled) who has his own set of disabilities, which adds more to the roller-coaster of life. The other two are doing ok -- as well as can be expected. With some of the rules and regulations of Social Security Disability, I'm pretty much home-bound to give my full attention to the family members who are on disability. Our budget is very tight, but we manage.

      Effexor Working / Worked
Worked, but was not impressed by the weight gain. With most anti-depressive medication, the body develops either an immunity or dosage increase was necessary to maintain proper effectiveness. No longer taking medication due to loss of employment and medical insurance.

      Prozac Somewhat Helpful
      Same experience with Effexor.
      Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
This form of support was helpful, as long as the counselor was receptive and open. Have had a few counselors whom I felt were not putting a genuine effort with psychoanalytical perspectives. If therapy, insurance, & money were available, I would seek another.
Support from Friends & Family Not Working
As stated with the Positive Thinking category, most of family members have disabilities and illness. I prefer not to burden them with my problems and issues. Best friend lives in another state and has many of the same issues I am having and do not wish to burden her with my problems.
