(English first, segundo en espanol) hey there~ here's a bit about me...I love to read and bike in good weather, im a college student and a writer, I'm a House trivia nerd, I've been on meds b4 ask about them if you want (psych and non-psych), love to email people so chat if you want... my interests section is way more informational than this, oh well... I have a dog who is my animal soul mate, but he's at my parents' house right now... I'm very studious and super hard on myself but that's me I guess... I live in a pretty neat town, actually, and I didn't move away to college just stayed here, I could see myself living my entire life here and that's not the norm for people my age I don't think.... I'll add some more random stuff when I think of it (you know you love it) hola amigos espanoles (cómo se forma tildes en macs?).. hablo ambos lenguajes, pero el mejor para mi es claro inglés... me encanta leer y montar bicicleta pero no cuando hace frío o hay lluvia... soy estudiante de la universidad y soy escritura... yo sé mucho sobre las triviales del programa HOUSE en los EEUU (espero que está donde estás tambien)... habia hecho en muchas medicinas, dígame mensaje si quieres saber más... me encanta email... tengo un perrito! pues viejo pero ya pequeno... soy estudiosa, tengo morales estrictas... no me mude por la universidad.. ya vivo en la misma ciudad que donde me crecia cuando era pequena.. en el futuro probablemente ya voy a estar aquí :) ... puedo agragar más tarde.. ahora hasta luego!

Interests
(English first, bajo en espanol) Anything with Hugh Laurie in it... yes he is House but I know him from before... which is very strange when I watch the TV show now (talk to me about this and you'll get pages upon pages of analysis. Don't think I'm serious? Try it.)...I love to read pretty much anything although I'm not a hugh sci-fi fan... I like to bike in good weather, I'm not a 'through rain and snow' biker, though... I like to write about anything, fiction or nonfiction...I also like driving and listening to music because it helps me think... I really like this website, please message me just to say hi or to vent or telling me something random, I don't care I love communication.... I'm dependent on this stuff called vitamin water (that counts as an interest, right?), seriously I buy 30 at a time and people in the grocery store think I'm nuts for it (if only they knew, sigh)... I like to think I have a good sense of humor, so if you don't think so at least don't tell me... also I like listening to music a lot, mostly indie rock but also lots of oldies (I heart Cat Stevens and Joan Baez) and lots of foreign music (Edith Piaf, FotoViva) pretty much anything except rap (not a big fan) and metal (headache)... I'm super moody but there you go :D para los espanoles: (mis mejores amigos) :D... me encanta cualquier cosa con Hugh Laurie.. yo sé datos a chorros sobre él o sus programas de Inglaterra ( series cómicas!)... me gusta leer y ahora mismo estoy leyendo por Roald Dahl.. me gusta escribir la ficción o artículos, no me importa cual, manejo mucho y escucho a música al mismo tiempo porque los me ayudan a pensar... me gustaría hablar contigo, si quieres, me encanta la comunicación! tambien me gusta porque compro como treinta al mismo tiempo y ellos piensan que soy drogadícto o algo :D quizás sí... me gusta pensar que tengo buen sentido de humor- si no lo crees, no lo me digas porque quiero guardar mi inocencia. Mi música favorita es de Cat Stevens y Joan Baez ahora, pero cambia muchisimo... soy voluble pero siempre linda y agradable... por lo menos pienso :)

Well, I considered it and never took it, got too scared. I had such a bad time with so many meds, i basically quit treating :( so i stay miserable...considering new tx options again after a break.

Support Groups
Close Depression
: Clinical (Major) Depressionstarted around 12 yrs old classified as major depressive, severe and then after about 5 yrs on meds "treatment resistant" probably bc of comorbidity issues. I consider myself a person who's been around the block with this diagnosis so ask questions if you want I'll give them a shot.
Treatments
- Celexa Not Working
- Did squat. Maxed out. Switched meds. Side effects for me- blurry vision, urinary retention, nausea, constipation, mild weight gain. Unpleasant.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Did nothing. Maxed out. Switched meds. Side effects were minimal dizziness, feeling faint.
- Effexor Not Working
- Went into anaphylactic shock. 'Nuff said.
- Haldol Somewhat Helpful
- Helpful for awhile especially with OCD side of depression. I consider it helpful at times. Major side effect heavy lactation.
- Paxil Not Working
- I was on this for quite awhile. Did absolutely nothing and I maxed out after about 5 months. Thought this would be the wonder drug but I guess not. Side effect was minimal nausea.
- Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
- It's very good to try, but sometimes trying isn't enough. Went though a stage where nothing seemed wrong with me. Positive thinking is good, as long as you keep your outside appearance true to self.
- Prozac Not Working
- I was on this and Abilify combination for SO LONG. Maybe a year. Did absolutely nothing but I said it helped bc I was tired of being disappointed by meds. Side effects- fatigue, irritable. Max dose I was on was 80mg
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I've been in therapy for 4 yrs... I hope it's helping. Sometimes I feel as if I just started all over again. After the initial freak out it did feel good to talk to someone.
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- This works for my insomnia at a low dose. I'm not on it for depression, and it hasn't helped my depression. Side effect: early morning tiredness. I take 50mg at night, sometimes 75mg.
- Support from Friends & Family Not Working
- Unfortunately the years I spent hiding trivialize what I seem to be expressing now. Also, difficult to get support from same-aged friends because they have other, more age-appropriate things to do.
- Trazodone Not Working
- I was on it for insomnia and it did nothing. No side effects, though.
- Writing Working / Worked
- Definitely helps more than any med has, which is kind of sad, really. I wrote a novel and it got me through some bad times.
- Zoloft Not Working
- was on this and xanax. made me sleepy but not less depressed.
- Orap Not Working
- I tried this and stopped it because it made me feel like risperdal sedated and just not myself. Very uncomfortable
- Risperdal Not Working
- I was a ZOMBIE... family got freaked out although I honestly didnt mind it at the time so I stopped.
Close Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
just feeling things out in a new group, I've had OCD since I was really little but am just now figuring things out about it. I've most been focused on depression...
Treatments
- Luvox Considering
- it's an option but I haven't gone with it yet, hesitant about trying a new med since I have tried 16 before and I doubt the 17th is the charm.. but one does have to keep on trying (you can see where I go with this:)
- Paxil Not Working
- Did squat and I maxed out over about 5 months. Tried it with Abilify and got nada.
- Remeron Not Working
- didn't work although I tried it for at least 5 months with gradually raising the dose. Maxed out, came off, tried something else. No side effects, though~

- at a low dose right now for insomnia, very difficult to get up in the morning, building up a tolerance but works really well so far.
- Zoloft Not Working
- first psych med I tried, along with xanax. Did squat and I maxed out and tried another SSRI to no avail. Side effects were sleepiness and small amount of weight gain
Open Insomnia
struggled with insomnia at different points in time, including currently... I need some information and this seemed like a good place to get it

- Ambien Somewhat Helpful
- kinda helpful in that I did go to sleep eventually, but I would sleepwalk very dangerously and try to start and drive cars.. things like that. Watch out for this med, stories of people doing strange things are true
- Ativan Not Working
- I built up a tolerance to this med very easily. I weigh 150 am 5'10 female and I took four mg oral with no effect. Decided to stop the med altogether bc obviously wasn't working, and got major withdrawal. I don't suggest this med for insomnia.
- Halcion Not Working
- this med did absolutely nothing for me. very sad, actually, as I was promised it would work. Sorry.
- Music Too Soon to Tell
- this usually does not help unless I haven't slept in over 48 hours and I don't care about the lyrics anymore. classical music doesn't do anything for me, I have to have a song with lyrics that I've heard so much I could sing it in my sleep (that's the idea) Suggestion: Everything Will Be Alright by The Killers.
- Reading Working / Worked
- works for me for part of my going-to-bed ritual on an everyday basis. However, in an acute insomnia episode, this only serves to annoy me.
- Trazodone Not Working
- This medicine did not make me sleepy in the least. Very disappointing. No side effects for me, though.
Open Fibromyalgia
diagnosed in 2007 but not treated bc of other more prominent problems. First tx not working and I need more information.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- I really thought this would be good but I felt absolutely nothing after a couple of months. Insurance didn't cover it and I couldn't give $ to something I didn't like. Plus I felt sore where the needles poked my skin afterwards. :(
- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- It worked well when I first used it but afterwards I felt nothing. I take it with other things if things get really bad but it doesn't seem to really be doing anything.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- tried this for depression but it didn't do anything for any problem. Lots of side effects like nausea, headache, urinary retention, blurry vision. Yuck.

- Heat Somewhat Helpful
- pretty good on an everyday basis. Like putting a band-aid on an amputated limb in a pain crisis.
- Lyrica Not Working
- I've been on this for about 2 yrs and doctors keep raising the dose like it's really going to make a difference. I'm on such a high dose now I think almost 500mg a day and I feel nothing. Wondering if I should stay on this.
- Morphine Not Working
- I get this in the hospital after surgeries and it does absolutely nothing for me. I don't understand, isn't it supposed to do something? Hmm. I haven't gotten it for fibro, only after surgeries.
- Neurontin Too Soon to Tell
- I was put on this and lyrica at the same time and evidently that's not supposed to happen. Was taken off of this before I really got a chance to see what was going on. Didn't feel anything, though.
- TENS Not Working
- I got this and felt nada. I did it for about 2 months. No side effects, no effects.
- Ultram Somewhat Helpful
- It's ok for minor pain but I don't get any relief for anything above say a four. Not on this on a regular basis. Side effects- constipation.
- Zanaflex Not Working
- I took it and it did nothing. Very disappointing. Maxed out and so eventually went off it bc of nothing happening.
Open Anxiety
diagnosed with anxiety from childhood, been on several different meds with little help, managed by myself but I like seeing and sharing stories.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- I did not enjoy this and it actually made me more nervous as I discovered needles make me nervous. Yuck.
- Ativan Not Working
- I built up a tolerance to this quickly. At one point took 4mg po and no effect whatsoever. I am 150lbs 5'10" and female so that is saying something. It was hell to get off of, seemed to last a long time in my body.
- Inderal Too Soon to Tell
- I tried this for a very short time period, I couldn't really tell if it worked or not. I think I was on it while coming off another med.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- I felt nothing on this med. No side effects, but no effects.
- Luvox Considering
- My psychiatrist tells me this is the next logical steps. I didn't realize the 17th step is the charm.

- I thought this was the wonder drug but it did nothing. I maxed out after about 5 months and then switched. Boogers. Side effects were minimal.

Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
I've had IBS or something like it since I was a toddler. Odd that something with a fairly mild reputation can be so life-altering if you grow up with it. My IBS is very constipation-prominent.
Treatments
- Acidophilus Not Working
- Did nothing. No side effects.
- Bentyl Working / Worked
- works on the rare occasion I get diarrhea. It seemed strange to me to want it to stop, as I am usually very constipated.
- Colace Not Working
- does NOT work at all. Causes major cramps and no results.
- High Fiber Diet Somewhat Helpful
- I think this is good no matter if you are healthy. It didn't do anything for my bowel problems, though.
- Miralax Not Working
- This did not help at all and I was literally downing a bottle a day.... nothing. Side effect- feeling faint, probably because it seriously threw off my electrolytes.
- Probiotics Not Working
- I've always tried this stuff when it comes out but it doesn't do anything but make me feel like I should spend the money on it.
- Psyllium Not Working
- I ate/drank this stuff in every form possible for years with the promise of doctors that it would work- it did NOT and I wasted my time and effort. I am very discouraged by this excuse for a medicine.
- Zelnorm Not Working
- I was on it for about 6 months and nothing happened. I thought it would be the wonder drug but it definitely wasn't.
Open GERD & Heartburn
I've had reflux since I was an infant. After years of meds with no avail I had a surgical procedure in July 2009, on which the jury is still out.

- Ginger Somewhat Helpful
- I think this helped, although I took it in conjunction with many other meds. No side effects :)
- Nexium Not Working
- 40mg BID not working, never worked. No side effects.
- Prilosec Not Working
- Did not work, went to Nexium instead.
- Reglan Too Soon to Tell
- I've been on this off and on so I don't really know how much of it is working.
Open Inguinal Hernia
I've had 2 inguinal hernias repaired surgically, one lap and one open.
Treatments
- Surgery Working / Worked
- Had 2 done, one right one left and left was done well laproscopically. Right one is still causing problems and it was done open, so there's a good 3 inch scar there.
Open TMJ
Have had TMJ since childhood, went to several oral surgeons but advice is always rest and heat.

- Mouthguard Somewhat Helpful
- Was ok... kind of uncomfortable and then I stopped using it and the pain isn't too bad. Side effects: tension headache and difficulty going to sleep with it in my mouth.
Open Anemia
Type: Iron Deficiency AnemiaI've had anemia since 11yo and haven't had any luck with tx because many meds can't be prescribed with my other conditions. I'd like to learn more about it.

- I take this and get very constipated, so constipated I had to be hospitalized. So. I don't take it but I need to and it's a double-edged sword.
Open Interstitial Cystitis (IC)
diagnosed with cystitis at first, then IC a year afterward. Tried antibiotics for years, nothing helped.

- did this under anesthesia. helped for awhile, then nothing.
- Elmiron Considering
- doctor says I shouldn't take this bc of ibs but I'm thinking the potential benefits outweigh the risks...
- Macrobid Not Working
- Got a full-body skin rash... itchy and bright red. Not using again.
- Pyridium Working / Worked
- Lovely medication. Too bad you can't be on it long-term. Side effects: orange urine

I have always been a naturally shy person but it affects my so-called "social life" because I feel scared I'll reveal too much information about myself or look funny. I'd like to see what other people say about it.

- I love my dog my parents got for me for Christmas. I know it was their attempt to get me to cheer up. He is simply wonderful and compliments my moods.

- Not expressly for shyness, but for mental illnesses. Has helped shyness, though.

- I hang out more with my close friends but I have not made a new friend in probably close to 4 years.
Open Pre-menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Have had hideous PMS since started at age 11. Rapid mood swings and irritability, fatigue, malaise, faint feeling, associated anemia.
Treatments
- Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
- Pretty good for the first couple of days. Can be constipating.
- Oral Contraceptives Not Working
- I tried seven billion different kinds and none of them did anything but either make my periods themselves longer or make the mood swings associated with them longer. Horrible idea to try these.
- Prozac Not Working
- Tried for a long time for MDD and OCD but no help. Didn't help the PMS, either.
- Zoloft Not Working
- Tried this for depression, OCD and did not work. I don't think I was even paying attention to my periods at that time, other stuff going on.
