      Hi,
I wanted to be the first to hug you. Your story is sad, frustrating and familiar to me. I just recently got into a decent pain management clinic after about 5 years of hurting and 2 bad docs. I am having a PTSD problem related to how the last doc's PA treated me, and that was a year ago. I'm way out of the danger zone, but I still think of how bad she treated me. Yes. It is standard practice to pee for pain docs, sometimes every visit if you are high risk (for addiction / abuse / diversion.) Pain contracts are standard also. Basically you agree not to receive pain meds from another doc while seeing this one. If you want out of the contract, you just go to a different clinic and get meds there ( and stop getting meds from the old clinic.) YOU are the head of your health care team, never forget that! Good luck! What state do you live in? I'm in IL. I am a leader in the Power Over Pain Action Network and can provide resources. This board is also a great place to compare notes.

      Treatments

      Hydrocodone Somewhat Helpful
I am never out of pain. I moved a year ago, and did most of it by myself because my husband had to work. Since then my back hurts, and I have pain radiating down my leg.
      Lyrica Somewhat Helpful
I think the lyrica is helping some, but it would do nothing for the sciatica by itself, IMO.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
It just takes my mind off my pain for a while, but it's hard to concentrate when it feels like there's a very sharp knife in my back.
      Naproxen Not Working
It only works if I take Norco with it.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
It worked, however I was only allowed to take it every 6 hours (pain came back 4-5 hours later), so I went back to the Norco. It doesn't take the pain away like the percocet did, but I'm not falling asleep when I need to be cleaning the house.
      Physical Therapy Not Working
My pain has only gotten worse as time goes by. I can't do any PT except swim. Thankfully there's a pool in my backyard, as swimming helps.
      TENS Not Working
I used the TENS when I was going to chiropractor and acupuncture, and PT. I do not feel relief from it at all.
      Reiki Not Working
I got no relief from this at all.
