have a great week hope u are doin well
Sounds like your having a reaction to the PTU. Call the endo Mon morning and let them know. I've had GD for over 30yrs took RAI at 27 and went on to have a healthy life and have two sons. Its doable but you really have to understand the disease. Learn as much as possible before making decisions and always get a second opinion. Best of luck and please take.care. Mary
hope u feel better i am here if u need me ok have a great weekend
Hi Scorpiogirl,
I have not journeled my story yet but I am definitely one person who REGRETS having RAI. It has ruined my health. I know it works for some people but I think there are more people out there who have had problems with it than not. Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear you have Graves and so young too! I hope all goes well for you. I'll write more at a later time. I'm away from a computer uuntil Sunday and Blackberry typing isn't my specialty! Take care! Dana
Thanks Scorpio..it is a long trip or short for some but there can be light at the end of the tunnel. The main thing is to NOT hang onto the negative posts, go with your body and doctors. I don't know why I suddenly, well nearly 2 years later, have this positive happening to me. I'm really not over the hump until my next labs after being off the Methimazole for 2 months. If the graves antibodies are still gone then I can celebrate and pray it stays in remission. I still have to get through the eye muscle surgery next month but I'm really looking forward to that. I've had scotch tape over 1/2 of the left glasses lens for over a year and it will be so good to use both eyes again. Dr. did that so I can drive and not see double lol. I don't have the "bulge" so that's a plus. I wish you the very best in your ventures with this awful disease and pray every single person suffering with it eventually gets a positive ending. Hugs, Pat
I am a 32 year old mother of two. Just recently I ended up in the hospital for a thyroid storm. Leading up to the storm, I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks and felt tired all the time. I was irritable and had bad insomnia. Upon my discharge from the hospital, I was on 1200 mg of PTU per day, divided every 4 hours. A few days after, labs were run and my numbers were only a tad high so I was switched from PTU to Methimazole. I had a severe adverse reaction after just one dose and was switched back to PTU, 450 mg per day, taken three times daily. I am also on a beta blocker to help with the palpitations and increased heart rate.
I was just recently diagnosed with severe Graves after being hospitalized for a thyroid storm. I have a goiter with nodules that I did not know of until 2 weeks before my thyroid storm.
