My Mom fell and was taken the hospital last night via ambulance from assisted living. I was there until 3 AM. She has Alzheimer's.

Mom has surgery this morning on a broken elbow and shattered shoulder bone, not to mention a broken pelvic. Recovery is expected from 6-9 months due to her bones being so brittle. If they ever do heal. This afternoon she did feed herself with her left hand (she's right handed) and is on morphine drip. Right now she's in la la land but tomorrow and the next day will be really hard on her.

The wonderful nurses are just a blessing. They have her room across from the Ortho nurses station so they are aware if she needs them. They are aware of ther alzheimer's and that she forgets 1 minute after we tell her where she is. She doesn't grab the concept she's had surgery yet.

Next is physical therapy and a move to another facility. Then we'll see from there. Tomorrow we're going to clean out Mom's room where she was livng at Assist. Living.

I'm ready to relax a bit and try to get some sleep tonight. My son and grandchildren are coming up tomorrow to see Mom. So that will take most of the afternoon too. Another long day....

I always say God doesn't give us more than he and we can't handle together although sometimes we wish he didn't trust us so much! So sorry to hear about your Mom's latest mishap. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. BIG HUGGS
