    • About Me

(this was taken from one of my posts, but it explains well) I have to laugh at everything that is how I deal. I went around the longest time calling my self "waterhead" to coworkers to try and help them understand what was going on and why I needed a shunt all of a sudden. I would say "Waterhead 4 Life!" Partly due to the fact I knew this was going to be just that, a life long thing and something that I am just going to have to deal with. (This is not to be offensive, this was pretaining to me only and how I deal with MY situation.) :) So those reading this don't get mad please. I wanted everyone to realize that I did not have a "tumor", just too much water pressure around my brain acting like one. I was out of work for 3 months, they needed an explaination. They thought I'd never come back. REWIND: I was DX in 2007 by my eye doc. Spinal tap and a sucky Neuro who didn't care (he told me "loose weight or go blind"). He didn't check pressure. I referred myself to another Neuro. Opening pressure above 620, it spilled all over the floor. I then had a shunt less than two weeks later. (LP), ventricles too small. I went back to work 3 months later. I had no clue about all of this, I just gained alot of weight back and had a lot going on. I had no clue.... That was a really difficult time in my life. I have never had my shunt checked, my vision is getting worse, some permanent damage, but no papelidema. so no shunt adjustment. since loosing weight though, i don't really feel the need as much for an adjustment as i have fewer headaches. i had to take control. :) SMILE, U HAVE NO CHOICE.
