I’m With You
I can relate to increasein symptoms. 6/06 was thrown from horse, 10 days later discovered I didn't know definitions of words that I knew I knew in HS and college. Long term memory was next, headaches came with a vengence within 3 months ( My brain was with it enough to keep a log of headaches, where they start, where they move and the level of h/a showing 1-10 for intensity. This information was really useful for my neurologist at the time. Plus as symptoms started I added them to my list.
Good Luck!

Close Panic Attacks
When I was 37, I thought I was having a heart attack, but no, was told it's anxiety "it's nothing." Ten years later, same thing. Extensive tests, thousands of dollars out and the cardiologist says "it's anxiety but I won't help you." It's been hard to get real help but I've crafted a team of helpers with my regular doctor (who does cranio sacral therapy), another MD who does acupuncture, a Chinese medical doctor, qi gong, biofeedback and herbal therapy. I am seeing this as a journey.
Treatments
- Ativan Somewhat Helpful
- helpful when I took it in small doses (0.25 mg) otherwise I was too sleepy.
- Patience Working / Worked
- coupled with humor it helps take the "zing" away when I'm in the midst of feeling convinced I'm going to die!!
- Positive Thinking Working / Worked
- For this I make of pointed effort to stop my mind by saying "stop" and redirect my attention to my lower abdomen (lower tan tien in qi gong); I also choose to trust vs. fear. The effects are there but aren't as potent in trust.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I had counseling years before but not specifically for anxiety. Frankly, I find reading the shared experiences on this board helpful.
- Rescue Remedy Working / Worked
- I don't leave home without it!!!
- Xanax Working / Worked
- I take 1/4 of 0.5 mg and notice an effect. 0.25 mg is good at night. I try to reserve xanax for when it's an especially powerful attack or when I'm on a roll of having multiple attacks in a day.
Close Brain Injury
had a concussion from auto accident 5/10/09. also had head injury in 1981 after motorcycle accident.
