  Wow, even our time frames were very similar. Josh and Michael were both sick about 2 years, and died about 2 years ago, if I remember correctly. It makes me crazy that on Hugback, you can't see the other person's message, so I have to rely on my memory, which as you probably already know gets very fuzzy with grief. Michael was so sick, so fast that from the time of dx I was out of work for 9 months and he was in the hospital all those months. That was April to December 2006. In January, he went to school one hour a day, we increased that by about an hour a month. I found that as he was feeling better, all of the pain and emotion I had buried while we focused on Michael's health came roaring out of me, and I was a mess. I never really got on my feet before he relapsed in June, the day after school let out. We were back in the hospital until the first week of August. Michael did not want to die at the hospital, so we were discharged and he died about 2 weeks later. I run my own business, which has been a good thing. With one exception, very caring people kept things going and have been very patient with me as I have tried to get back on my feet. I feel very lucky in that respect. My co-director even moved in with our older son, who was 16 when Michael was dx'd. Do you have other kids? How old? If so, how did they respond, cope? Our Joe has a very high wall around all the pain.

  Hi, I'm so glad you found me. You probably saw that our son Michael was 15 when he died of leukemia. What is your son's name and what kind of cancer did he have? Was his illness a long one or did things happen fast, as it does for some people? Michael had never missed a day of school, always healthy, then one day he wasn't. We were in patient at Children's in Milwaukee for most of 19 months. The pain is so overwhelming. How are you coping? Had your son finished high school? I could go on and on with questions. Hope you will share your story. I haven't done a journal here, am pretty new. We did Caringbridge for the past 4 years. Seems like forever and yet seems like yesterday Michael was right here.
