Close ADHD / ADD
Diagnosed with ADD after my 10 year-old daughter was. I noticed her symptoms in me and remembered those symptoms when I was her age.
Treatments
- Adderall Not Working
- Tried at beginning... didn't see much affect, so doc switch to something else.
- Concerta Somewhat Helpful
- Worked, but trouble sleeping and caused large mood swings at end of day when dosage wore off (became a jerk/got agitated). Took Ritalin in evening to reduce drop off, but then I was on speed 12hrs a day.
- Focalin Not Working
- Tried at beginning... didn't see much affect, so doc switch to something else.
- Ritalin Working / Worked
- used in evenings for 4hrs of focus if needed... but made me a bit jittery.
- Strattera Working / Worked
- Worked for impulse control, etc., but side effects were bad: sweating, headaches, low sex performance, moodiness, became agitated, argumentative. Stopped to focus on depression.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- Taking for depression, but seems to be helping with impulse control like Strattera, without the side effects.
Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionUm... I'm depressed! Have been treated for ADD for a few years but recently re-diagnosed as having depression and need to deal with that first before the ADD. Going through divorce with 2 kids; starting over after 18yr stressful marriage, etc.
Treatments
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Worked for some symptoms... now combined with Wellbutrin. Expensive.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- Works well... also helps with ADD symptoms. No side effects that I can tell.
- Writing Somewhat Helpful
- Reluctant, but from reading an ACT book, I tried writing about issues and experiences I had growing up that I'd blocked or been ashamed of, etc. whose feelings I've repressed all these years.
Open Breakups & Divorce
Seperated 2 years... still arguing over the final agreement since we didn't use lawyers in the beginning... BIG mistake.
