About Me
Hi, My name is Maria Akburak. I was born in Guadalajara Mexico 54 years ago. I grew up in an orphanage of the Salvation Army. I am grateful to the Salvation Army, to God and to my mother for the opportunity I had to grew up in there. We had a lot of activities and good classes. Very well organized daily schedule, and healthy meals. My sister complains about it, but for me it was a blessing, taking into consideration that my mother had to work to support our School expenses, including: uniforms, books, and supplies. Also monthly instalments to the Institution. I have four children, four grand-children, and a loving husband. I was encouraged to study hard, read and learn all I could, and i've done that. Have several certifications, diplomas and an Associates degree in Science; Computer Networking. Worked for the NMCI Proyect, but since 2005 when I was diagonosed with CML, not working at all, only gardening and cooking. Visiting grand-children and resting. I learned to take good care of myself. I like to search and research a lot, that's how I found you guys.

Interests
My best interest is to testify about how Jesus has strenghten me, took away my fear to die, and keep in me the faith and hope that I will be completely restored. Jesus can do the same for each one of you that have cancer. You can take your meds, take care of your eating habits, but inside of you the one fighting your battles is Him, because we are healed by His wounds. IS. 53 So, keep up the faith, and don't die without hope. We live because He lives.

Close Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML)
I was diagnosed with CML on June 2005. Doctor Oval started me on Gleevec, and told me that it was the best and latest product for this disease. I've been taking it since then, but sometimes i took little brakes. up to now it had worked, but with side effects. Currently my Oncologist is Dr. Hampshire and wants to switch to Sprycel, because he says my results indicate that I developed resistance to Gleevec. Sometimes I feel like giving up, but my husband and children realy encourage me to try it. I don't want to intoxicate my body more than necessary, or to suffer worst side effects, I am afraid to try Sprycel. I want to be healed without medication, I have been praying a lot for it. The change kind of depresses me. Please help me. Maria.
