    • About Me

I have been fighting to regain my health since 1998. It was not until this year that I learned I in fact have Shingles. It has been tearing me apart and debilitating my body for years. And, unfortunately, not only has it taken away from me my health, but also my life. I have been writing for a very long time. There are many (even physicians) who do not take this disease seriously. Hopefully, I can make a change and save individuals from ever experiencing this. I am thankful that I have found Daily Strength.

Love the law. Worked in the courtroom with judges when I could function adequately. My father (now gone) had an incredible voice. He had a chance to pursue it in LA, but stayed on as an electrician to take care of his family. We sang together up until he passed away in 1993. Love to write. Have been writing for a very long time. So many ideas -- Love to read. You are never too old to learn. And, thank God for books.

i read your post about the incident with the doctor. try seeing a different doctor if this one seems rude. also advocate for yourself and get numbers of the health department and the chief of hospital staff to make complaints needed. make your wishes known about your illness. if u feel u are not bein treated right, complain to the bosses in the hospital or to a health department. they have patient relations in the hospitals. i hope u feel better. but dont take crap from them. you are the one suffering not them. all they get is their paycheck and most doctors don't ever really care about the suffering and pain of patients they are supposed to serve and protect. know your righst and fight a good fight to get your health back. even if it means getting a lawyer, do so.

    • Ray of Sunshine

      From Kenna21 January 29

Yay for Sunshine in CA.... finally! I hate the rain... it only adds more pain to the pain I already have... I should just forget about Graphic Design and become a Meteorologist, my phn helps me decide what outfit to wear... "You're at a level 9 today, wear a jacket... you're at a level 12 today, don't go out... you're at a level 7 today, wear jeans and a thin sweater...." I mean really though, the rain is NOT fun! I haven't been on here in awhile, wanted to say hi and see how you're doing.

    • Close Chronic Pain

      Live with chronic pain daily.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Not Working
Did not work. Terrible anxiety. Did not help nerve pain.
      Hydrocodone Somewhat Helpful
Currently on Norco. Does help with pain. My system is very sensitive, so I need to increase doseage slowly. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so good. Especially when I attempt to put too many chores into my day. Need to pace myself.
      Lidoderm Working / Worked
Helps a little with pain. Very expensive (not generic).
      Lyrica Not Working
Found this is very similar to Neurontin (just a different component). It is only brand name. No generic. Found no difference for me.
      Morphine Somewhat Helpful
No longer using. Did not feel much relief with time release tablets.
      Naproxen Not Working
Cannot take for stomache reasons. It did not relieve the chronic pain.
      Nerve Blocks Not Working
Epidural as well. Did not work for me. Would like to possibly try nerve blocks again.
      Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
Helps the tingling with the nerve pain. Does not help me with pain.
      Oxycodone Working / Worked
Presently not using. This is a medication I will again consider. I wish I could afford Oxycontin. It is time released without the added component of Acetaminophen. FDA is currently reconsidering many drugs with this component.
      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
Swimming somewhat helpful in the past, but the pain/fatigue/weakness continued and it just became difficult.
      TENS Not Working
I have neuropathy. Only made it worse.
      Topamax Not Working
Did not work for me at all.
