Close Colon Cancer
Stage: IIIB (T3-4, N1, M0)Diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the colon during an appendectomy in February '08. Went through radiation and chemotherapy.
Treatments
- 5-FU Working / Worked
- 18 months post-diagnosis and so far no definite signs of recurrence. Started getting nausea and vomiting about half-way through the 12-cycle course.
- Oxaliplatin Working / Worked
- 18 months post-diagnosis and so far no definite signs of recurrence. Possible reaction to the medication consisting of a rash all over my body caused us to stop the therapy after 9 of 12 cycles. Some lingering numbness in my feet, but doesn't affect my ability to walk. The sensitivity to cold and change in taste was the worst - could only drink lukewarm lemonade at one point. But luckily only temporary.
- Radiotherapy Working / Worked
- Other than losing the hair on my stomach, which regrew looking the same, no obvious side effects.
