I AM FINALLY FREE Mood
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 | A Breaking News story

I AM FINALLY FREE FROM BEING A SLAVE TO CIGARETTES. I DO NOT SMOKE  ANY LONGER.ONE WEEK AGO I SAID THATS IT I AM FINISHED. THE WIERD THING IS I HAD A SPIRITUAL HEALING AT CHURCH.AND FOR 3 DAYS I WAS LUCKY IF I HAD 2 HOURS OF PAIN.WAS PRETTY SURE I HAD BEEN DELIVERED. AND THAN EVERYTIME I SMOKED A CIGGARETTE, THE PAIN WILL GET TOTTALLY OFF THE WALL WORSE,

ANYWAY  I SAID THATS IT I PUT THE CARTON O CIGAREETES.SO I NO LONGER SMOKE.WENT COLD TURKEY.DID NOT HAVE ANY WITHDRAWLS WHATSOEVER. DON'T THINK ABOUT THEM.DON'T WANT  EVEN  LOOK AT   THEM. SO I WAS DEFINITELY DELIVERED FROM CIGARETTES. NOW IF I CAN GET THE SAME WAY WITH THE PAIN. BECAUSE THE PAIN IS BACK FULL FORCE. I CAN NOT TFOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT WHY.

Congratulations on your quit! Good on you, it's a great thing to do. What kind of pain are you having? Is it something a doctor could help you deal with? Is it physical or emotional? Do you know what's causing it?

Are you talking about the Fibro pain? If you are then I understand your pain and truly feel your despair and frustration. Sometimes it just becomes overwhelming and you think that it won't ever stop or get better. But there will be good days. Please don't lose hope.

I remember quitting smoking back in 1987. I kept having dreams about it for a while. How has your struggling been going?

A good verse to help you is in Romans 6:7: "because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. " Paul said that we are to reckon ourselves to be dead to sin and many people miss this. People are trying to become dead to sin and do not realize that they are already dead to sin. When Jesus died on the cross then that old nature with all its sin went to the grave with Jesus to never rise again (Romans 6:3-6). It is only when we literally see ourselves as dead to sin as meaning that it no longer holds any power over us then living with that knowledge gives us strength to over come sin.

Remember, Colossians 2:6 tells us that as we received Christ Jesus that we are to walk in Him. We receive Jesus by faith and our grow from beginning to end is by faith. To overcome even the strong sins of the flesh does not come by strong endeavors but by faith. Paul said in Galatians 5:16 that if we will "walk in the Spirit" then we SHALL NOT "fulfill the lusts of the flesh." Victory from beginning to end is in Christ and never in our self efforts.

Keep your gaze heavenward because as you behold Him and His beauty and not yourself then you can only grow into His glorious image (2nd Cor. 3:18).

    Lord Bless!

  3. CarrieinSK

I know how hard it is as I was once an addicted smoker. Hubby and I quit cold turkey as a New Year's Resolution in 2002. I'll never smoke again as quitting is just too hard. We took up walking and walked and walked and walked! LOL A lot of crying and chocolate didn't hurt either.

I just want you to take a look at your profile. Everything you have written is to primarily to do with smoking...either that you quit, crave one or had one. Please don't be a slave to your addiction. You can do it! Think of yourself as a non-smoker and how much freer you will be. Good luck with quitting trish.

Hi Trish. I know that through God, He can help. I will pray for this. I ask God to help me with my dieting...and He helps me. When I crave something (like carbs because of my fatigue) I ask right then and there. It's helping.
Good luck to you hun and my prayers are with you for your strength.

I'm still smoking too. You might be on to something there about God wanting you to quit while you still like them, are you talking about it becoming a sacrafice to Him? I'm in the process of moving in 2 weeks, and i just put two of my cats to sleep today cause they were sick. Alot of loss going on in my life and it seems like I'm smoking even more. Planning on really trying to quit once I get moved on sept 6.

Hey, please just put them down. That is what killed my husband. He wished he'd stopped when I asked. Too late. Yes I think He does want you to give them up while you like them so much.that would be more of a sacrifice than waiting till you hate them. He made the sacrifice of life, you can do cigeretts. I beleive in you

Have you ever taken a cigarette and just really looked at it. I took one and tore it into pieces. It was just a bit of tobacco and paper and a filter. Once I realized that most of the pain of quitting was mental it was pretty easy to let go. I mean the craving only lasted a moment and if I took a couple of deep breaths the feeling past. If you get all worked up and feel you just must have that smoke then go and drink a glass of water or tell yourself you will have one later. I took Chantix and I don't care what anyone says the few symptoms I did suffer was well worth me losing the desire for smoking. You can do this. Just don't let the cigarettes have that much power over you!

    JanieC

  4. rosemae

Cigarette's are used as a stress reliever. We tend to think if we have a smoke it will decrease our stress. But in fact it does make it worse with all the added chemicals. When one has done something 12 times they have trained the brain this is normal. And becomes habit forming. If you can find another stress reliever and don't think of the cigarette as a stress reliever, but you really have to want to quit. And you must quit for yourself no one else. It is a difficult thing to do, but with a lot of prayer and determination it can be done. And when one slips, it's ok, start again on the path you chose. We are only human, we make mistakes. It's alright to make mistakes. Take care. Jan.

I smoked a pack a day for 15 years. I just thought of cancer, black and ugly lungs. I stopped one cig. at a time. I made rules like I won't smoke in the car and I won't smoke in the house, so on. I know you can do this. I put a pack in the freezer for an emergancy, I had it there for 5 years. Then I threw it away. DD

Trish, if you were in that much pain, smoking was most likely the least destruction things you could have done. Quitting anything, is a one day at a time battle. Just hang in there, you will make it..

Its so hard to stop smoking, i really understand.
I quit a few years ago now and the only way i could do it was with nicotine patches and a visit to the GP weekly. It worked and i havent looked back.
Try not to be too hard on yourself, today is a new day!

The first thing you should think about, is the fact that you are God's vessel, and you would never want to put any toxins into God's vessel, you want to keep it pure and untainted. And the second thing you should think about is the fact that you love to breathe. Now can you imagine not being able to breathe, cuz they have had to put a hole in your neck from smoking. Next you need to think about if you should have any children. You would need to stop for your pregnancy. If you quit now, you would not have to be worrying about it while you are pregnant. All these things helped me to quit. And I was smoking a pack and a half a day. I hope I did not offend anyone, and if I did I apologize.

I am an ex-smoker myself and I know how hard it can be to resist those smokes! I have a love-hate relationship with them still, and it has been a year since I've had one! The best thing to do is to tell yourself, "I may want a cigarrette, but I don't need one." Just do deep breathing exercises, even if you have to rush to the bathroom to do so. Just enjoy the feeling of breathing fresh clean air, and take some mouthwash with you. Every time you need a cigarrette, just rinse with some mouthwash and enjoy the fresh, clean feeling it gives you. It's going to take a while, unfortunately. The first three to six months are the hardest. I stil struggle, especially since almost all of my friends smoke. Next time you crave a cigarrette and you are near your computer, just send me an email and vent about it. Sometimes it helps to do that. It keeps the fingers and the mind busy.

    All my love,
    Krysta

It helped me to learn about the deadly chemicals in cigarette smoke, You can find that info on the web i think. Once you know this info its hard not to hate them. Good luck:)
