So my test results came back last week while I was out of town and I spoke with the Dr. this morning. I did not speak with Dr. Jabbour, but with his fellow, Dr. Mitchell.
Once again, I've been blown off. My test results show that I am producing triple the amount of the normal range of TSH. This could mean one of two things: 1)My thyroid is not working properly; or 2) My pituitary is not working properly. Hold that thought.
Another one of my tests indicated that my growth hormone production is deficient by 50 ng/mL. The normal ranges are 240-300 ng/mL. My result was 74 ng/mL. That's a significant difference.
Dr. Mitchell insisted that I have Hypothyroidism and prescribed me 150mcg synthroid. When I asked my questions, I was told that I was either incorrect or had nothing else to worry about. I was blown off.
Here's my thought. With just the TSH test, I might be inclined to agree that it is in fact my thyroid that is the problem...until I look at the IGF(growth hormone) result and then refer back to my original symptoms. It doesn't add up. I would feel better to test my thryoid function first to be sure that the problem is caonclusively in my thyroid and NOT my pituitary. I'm not happy. I left a message with Dr. Mitchell to return my call for a few more questions. That was at 2pm. I expect to hear back from her tomorrow. I will not begin the treatment until I have another blood test to check my T3 and T4. If they are normal than the problem is in my pituitary. If they are low, I will begin the treatment and look further at the growth hormone deficiency.
Here's to sticking with it and keeping persistant.
