Hi Jessica, I agree that you should go to a teaching hospital to find the right GI doctor, they will know more then any other doctor. I have auto immune chronic pancreatitis and I live 40 miles from the teaching hospital, I tried to find a doctor closer to me, but because my condition is real complicated I could not find anyone else except from a teaching hospital. I live my doctor, I just hate going to that hospital, so I try very hard not to go there. when I have pain, I stop eating and just have clear liquids, I take my pain meds and rest. sometimes the pain only last about five minutes at a time, but it will knock the heck out of my body, and I will be down for a couple of days. My doctor knows how I feel and works with me as much as possible. So I pray you will find somebody like that who is there when you need it. My regular doctor prescribes my medines, sometimes others on here have to go to a pain clinic to get there medicines. You should also see if your doctor wants you on enzymes they will also help with the pain. Wishing you well and keeping you in my prayers. Your friend Nancy H
