About Me
I had scoliosis and wore a Milwaukee back brace my freshman year in high school. I am now a successful speaker, coach and advocate for inclusion (www.amybarzach.com). I would like to talk to other women who had scoliosis and explore doing a workshop to transform old Milwaukee back braces into something of beauty - as a metaphor for reconnecting to our bodies.

Close Scoliosis
When my son was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and died in 1995 it made me realize that as successful as I was, I had left a part of myself behind when I had worn my back brace in high school and I was ready to reclaim it.
Treatments
- Brace Working / Worked
- Milwaukee back brace, wore it in high school. It corrected the curvature of my spine enough that I was considered healthy. I went on to have 4 children and have occasional back pain but nothing terrible. During the time I wore the back brace, I wanted to be invisible and I felt a disconnect from my body.
