About Me
Wife for 31 years, mother of three grown kids, Grammie of a 1 yr old. Diagnosed with Crohns's in January after blockage and surgery though I'm pretty sure I've had it since in my 20's (now I'm 53). Also have IBS. Just had cervical fusion last week. Had lumbar fusion 3 years ago. I love to travel and take care of my flower gardens when health allows.

Hug
Thank you for your hug and message. I appreciate the advice. I don't know what I was thinking. I thought that this surgery was my last ditch effort and everything would be okay once it was over. I guess it takes time. Let me know how everything goes for you!
Hug
I was told a comlete remission is when you still have the auto-antibodies in your blodd moving about, but they are no longer attacking your bowel(they are dormant); however, since they will always be present, there is always the chance they can, given the right enviroment in your bowel, attack again. We gotta stay away from bowel irritants, foods that can inflame the bowel and stess when we do go into remission. This is what my GI specialist explained to me. Have a great day and here is a hug for you.

Support Groups
Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Had obstruction in small instestines in January. Had partial colonectomy. Further testing supported thoughts that it was Chron's that I have. I thought talking to others who have similar problems would help.
Treatments
- Azathioprine Somewhat Helpful
- I have recently started several meds, so I am not sure which are the ones that are helping some and are not yet.
- Entocort Too Soon to Tell
- Only on third week of 8 week course. Also just had a cervical fusion last week. Neck isn't happy, tummy isn't happy. Time will tell I guess.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- Had blockage in small instestines in January. They took out 8". Suggested Crohn's which later tests proved was correct. Incision got infected, so back into hospital. Was not a fun month. Tried to operate laproscopically but ended up with about an 8" scar.
- Elavil Working / Worked
- To help with IBS. Is supposed to make intestines calm down. I believe it is a mild antidepressant.
- Bentyl Working / Worked
- For colon spasms. Just had three bad days not in a row so I really dont know what is helping or not yet.
Close Chronic Pain
I have had 4 lumbar surgeries, 3 shoulder surgies and now 1 cervical surgery (along with colonectomy, overy removal, hernia, etc). I just hope that I can be helpful to anyone else that might also be dealing with or have dealt with a lot of pain. Also maybe I can pick up some pointers, too!
Treatments
- Heat Working / Worked
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Lyrica Not Working
- I tried this and it made my mind a mess!! It didn't seem to be helping with the pain so I stopped and got my brain to stop spinning!
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- I have had so much PT over the years. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
- TENS Working / Worked
- Love my TENS!!!
- Spinal Cord Stimulator Working / Worked
- I have this because of failed back surgery syndrome which has left me with a lot of sciatic pain in both legs. The SCS works great for me!
