About Me
I am married with 2 children, now adults. I work for a Family Practice Doctor doing medical billing. I have Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Chronic Daily Migraines which affect my life on a daily basis. I love to ride our Harley with my hubby whenever possible. My husband and I, started a garden this year and I have enjoyed that very much. Also, I have had two spinal surgeries one in 2002 and the other in 2007, gall bladder surgery which turned into Pancreatitis in 2005, and a Supercervical Hysterectomy in 2004. Trying to decide now if I should have knee surgery due to extreme deterioration of my right knee cartilage (rheumatoid arthritis) and a slight tear in the meniscus from a fall a year ago.

My family, pets (2 cats and 2 dogs, one who is 7 months old), riding our Harley, gardening, computer stuff like Facebook and Daily Strength. Finding music to put on my IPOD; Lighthouses.

Hugs and Prayers to you April for a beautiful pain-free weekend. We have an annual turkey supper at our church and is our main fundraiser this weekend so I will be busy...be glad when it is completed! Pam

Have you tried Savella? So far.....it is working great for me and I hope it stays that way. No real side effects to speak of and after 3 weeks I feel human most of the time. I had forgotten what this felt like. It may be worth a try. Good luck to you-

Close Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2001. Lately it has been flaring again and it would be nice to have someone to discuss this with. I went off a lot of my meds in April 09 and lost about 25 pounds. I was doing ok for a few months but now the pain has returned with a vengeance! Not sure what my next step should be.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Not Working
- Tried this for 2 weeks and it just made things worse not to mention it was expensive, $75 a session 3 times a week!
- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- Helped for a while, even with sleep but then stopped working. I now use Norflex 2 times a day.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- This didn't do anything for me besides give me hot flashes and weight gain.
- Effexor Somewhat Helpful
- Helped some with the pain but made me gain weight.
- Lyrica Not Working
- Stopped this because of extreme fatigue. I would literally fall asleep while doing something and it put 20 pounds of weight on me and gave me hot flashes.
- Neurontin Not Working
- This seemed to not work at all for me. No side effects no help.
- Ultram Working / Worked
- This is about the only thing that I have noticed will help my Fibro pain. Usually take it every morning to get going and every 6 hours if needed. Haven't noticed any side effects but does not help with my migraines.
- Zanaflex Working / Worked
- Believe this is the same as Norflex? Having a daily muscle relaxer seems to help greatly.
Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
I'm here to find help/support in dealing with my Rheumatoid Arthritis. I was diagnosed about 3 years ago with sero-negative Rheumatoid Arthritis and 6 months ago by an Ultra Sound of my right knee. The Ultra Sound, and recent MRI, confirmed what my Doctor suspected, that I have Rheumatoid Arthritis even if my blood work does not show it. I have severe deterioration of the cartilage under my right knee. It also affects my hands, fingers, shoulders and ankles. I also have Fibromyalgia.
Treatments
- Folic Acid Not Working
- This helped me from getting sores in my mounth from the Methotrexate but I did not note any other side effect or that it helped with anything else.
- Methotrexate Somewhat Helpful
- Helped a little but messed up my stomach so much I had to stop taking it.
- Plaquenil Somewhat Helpful
- This helped some but was bothering my stomach so much I had to stop taking it. Even with taking Prilosec daily.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- I have taken this on and off when I am having severe swelling. Usually helps but need to make sure it is taken only on a limited basis because of the weight gain it causes.
- Voltaren Not Working
- Took this early on. Don't remember any side effects or that it worked. Must be why I stopped it, lol!
