Hi Thanks for replying to my memo. Your advice,support is appreciated. I am sending you some flowers that are guaranteed not to trigger allergies or migraines and the best thing about them is that they will stay fresh for ever and there is no need to water them LOL! I have pkd, diagnosed in 1988, currently in the evaluation phase for a dual liver and kidney transplant.
Close Migraine Headaches
Used to have 8-10 migraines per month with each lasting 3-5 days. After starting Botox injections, went down to 4-7 per month, each lasting about a day. Five months since I started Topamax and I suddenly became aware of the fact I haven't had a migraine in two months (and I haven't had a Botox injection since starting the Topamax either)!
Treatments
- Aspirin Not Working
- NSAID (the original); can't use due to kidney disease
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- avoid perfume, scented products, strong cleaning products
- Botulin Toxin Working / Worked
- works for about 75 days; can only get them every 90 days; reduces intensity and duration of headaches (headaches are now daily instead of lasting 4-7 days straight without a break)
- Caffeine Working / Worked
- part of Fioricet, my rescue med
- Fioricet Somewhat Helpful
- My only rescue medicine
- Imitrex Not Working
- severe chest pains/shortness of breath
- Midrin Not Working
- horrible side effects
- Naproxen Not Working
- have kidney disease; can cause irreversible kidney failure
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Haven't had a migraine in 2.5 months--it's amazing!
- Tylenol Not Working
- relatively useless
