    • Present

      From Belinda1977 October 14

Good Morning HUGS for you my friend. I hope you have a great day filled with many blessings.

I am sending you this little present today in celebration of so many things. Inside is one simple wish, as I celebrate my birthday today I am giving you a gift. Spoil yourself today, sometimes just the simple little things we do are the most important. If it is just a moment of peace or a pack of gum, take a moment today to celebrate with me the joys of growing older, wiser and more beautiful.

      Quote of the day

The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.

    • Little Love

      From Belinda1977 October 9

Good Morning HUGS for you my friend. I hope you had a great week, and am wishing you a wonderful weekend!

      Quote for today:

I know in my heart that man is good.
That what is right will always eventually triumph.
And there's purpose and worth to each and every life.
      Ronald Reagan

We are all here for a reason, a purpose. Look deep inside and know that you have purpose and worth in this life and know that others see it as well. You are valuable and loved. Be kind to yourself and you will triumph in all you do.

    • Close Bipolar Disorder

      Recently diagnosed as bipolar II.

      Treatments

      Adderall Working / Worked
Helps with motivation and chronic fatigue. Worked really well for depression for nearly two years, but not as much anymore. Causes some anxiety, irritability, and chest pain. Currently being tapered off of it.
      Lamictal Somewhat Helpful
Helps control suicidal thoughts; not so much depression. Main side effects included rash (subsided after a few days), slight short-term memory problems, word-finding difficulties, blurred vision.
      Lithium Not Working
Took this a long time ago. Made me feel like a zombie. Also caused hypothyroidism.
      Wellbutrin Not Working
Took this in the past. Helped with depression, but stopped working after several months.
    • Close Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Diagnosed two years ago with PTSD.

      Treatments

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
      Inderal Working / Worked
Currently on 20 mg twice a day. Helps somewhat, but still have bad irritability/startle response. Causes some light-headedness, blurred vision.
      Klonopin Working / Worked
Helps relieve my anxiety but tolerance becomes an issue
      Reading Working / Worked
Reading books about PTSD/anxiety disorders helps with treatment (deep breathing, meditation)
    • Open Depression
      Type: Clinical (Major) Depression

Have had major recurrent depression for 14 years

      Treatments

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
      Cymbalta Not Working
      Terrible side effects (flu-like symptoms).
      Effexor Not Working
      Caused bad insomnia, akathesia.
      Lexapro Not Working
Did nothing for depression. Helped with anxiety, but perhaps through apathy side effect.
      Meditation Somewhat Helpful
Works if you have the patience to practice it in the long run.
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
Support from professors and close friends in college helped greatly in relieving my depression. Once I graduated, depression became worse again.
      Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
Helped lift my mood for several months, then stopped working
      Writing Not Working
      Zoloft Not Working
Couldn't tolerate side effects, especially akathesia
      Abilify Too Soon to Tell
Been on this for about a week. I have moments were I can feel again the emotional numbness subsides for a bit but the akathesia is bothersome and disrupts my sleep.
    • Open Anxiety

Have had anxiety for 14 years, along with panic attacks and agoraphobia in the past

      Treatments

      Breathing Exercises Working / Worked
Probably the best non-medicine based therapy to help me relax when I feel tense.
      Klonopin Working / Worked
Works well. I take 1 mg in the morning. May need to up my dose to control startle response issues.
      Lexapro Working / Worked
Helps a lot with general anxiety/anger. Allows me to go on vacations/long trips without having panic attacks. Also helps with exaggarated startle response from PTSD.
      Meditation Working / Worked
Works when I stick with it for long periods of time.
      Xanax Working / Worked
Worked really well while I was on it. My doctor took me off of it several years ago and put me on klonopin instead.
    • Open Families of Prisoners

My father went to prison in 2004 for manslaughter. He is supposed to get out in 2010, but it has caused me a lot of post-traumatic stress due to financial problems and threats he makes towards my family because of his own mental health issues.
