Dear MJ - - You and your beautiful family will be fine! I am a long time survivor of prolactoma - including surgery and post-surgery medications. It took 4 years to get diagnosed - 1978-1981 - then 3 years to find the right endocrinologist and final resolution was transfonatal surgery....I was allergic to Bromocriptine - the only drug available back then! (sorry if I mispell this stuff!) Keep in mind that everyone has some sort of issue/upset - at least you understand the root of occasional upsets! Your husband is so fortunate to have a loving family and getting treatment very early in the stages of the disease. Research is paying off and there will be less long term suffering!
After my surgery I became a highly trained patient liasion for my surgeon and endocrinologist - headed up a local patient support group for patients and their families. The organization became so effective that word spread through the professional channels and eventually we merged with a California based group - ultimately the work we did became world-wide and I am guessing, lead to linking patients and their families via links like DailyStrength. So, I guess my personal touch can still make a difference for the newly diagnosed, even after all these years.
I live in Houston and continue to take some 'maintenance meds' and in the big picture i am about average in the living life full out category! Being semi-retired is the hardest part and figuring out where to turn for health care without insurance is a challenge. That's my goal this week - since my endocrinologist retired I am shopping for another good one!
I'll be saying a prayer for you all!
Sincerely - Sandy
