Hi Hon,
I'm sure you know that Bi Polar is a chemical imbalance in the brain. I guess it's much like the chemical imbalance I have with my thyroid. When I first found out about that, it took "trial and error" to finally find the right dose of medication to control it. In Brett's case, it took trial and error with many different medications, before the best one for his body was found. I've never seen such a change in a person, as the Serequel has made . I thank God daily for it!
Life is full of many ups and downs...and many seem very unfair. My husband has metastisised renal cell carcinoma....so I live with it constantly. Still....It's up to each of us to make the most of each day, and count the blessings we do have.
If you don't mind me making suggestions...I'd go to doctor's appointments with your hubby. Have a list of questions to present to the doctor, and tell him about any strange behavior, reactions, etc. Often the patient won't tell them, or maybe isn't even aware of these things. There are many wonderful drugs today for this disease. It may take several changes to hit on one that is perfect for him. Pray for patience, Hon. Hope is there and things can get better.
My love,
Ingrid
Hi Deaanna,
My 40 year old son is Bi-Polar. He was originally diagnosed at the age of 19, after a suicide attempt. There weren't as many good meds at that time. For the past six years he has been on Serequel. This drug has given him back his life. You may want to inquire about it.
I totally relate to your frustration. This is such a terrible disease, and one that is hard to accept and understand. Always remember...no one wants to have a mental illness. As awful as it is for those around them, the individual must be in a living hell.
I will be praying for you.
Love,
Ingrid
Hi Deanna,
i'm still thinking of you and i just wanted you to know that, let me know how you are doing when you have a free minute.....
Take care,
Becca
I hope today has been a good one for you.
My husband has ADD and Bipolar Depression II. I need to talk to others about their experiences. We've been married 38 yrs. This is the most difficult situation I've ever been involved in.
My husband was diagnosed with Bipolar II about 2 months ago. I need support and understanding. He's 63 yrs old.
I've been depressed for many years. My husband has ADD & Bipolar II. He was diagnosed with BP about 3 months ago. He's an angry man. I've stayed for many reasons but I'm paying for that decision. I take Citalopram but it does not help me.
