I am 53 years old and have been in a comitted relationship for 22 years. We have 5 children from 7 -30. THe last 2 are adopted. I am a nurse and have done critical care and emergency nursing. My mantra is, what is,is. I meditate, do yoga and do namaste guided meditations.

Close Bipolar Disorder
My first depression was at 16 and first full blown mania at 17. I was diagnosed incorrectly. 4 years ago at 48 I was finally dx. I am stuggling with this as my symtoms seem to get worse, requiring more medication, I am more labile. I am determined to not let this define who I am. I find it very difficult to ask for help as I have always been the caregiver. I am a psych nurse and can give great advice as long as it is to someone else. It will be nice to share.
Treatments
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- I attended a cognital behavioral program in janu for 7 weeks and still see a CBT therapist weekly. This is amazing.
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- have been on for 2 years, little side effects, dose has been increased several times with success.
- Topamax Not Working
- it is terrible, couldn't remember anything. dropped my IQ considerably. Did lose weight
- Wellbutrin Not Working
- after 1 week became aggitated and psychotic.
- Concerta Working / Worked
- also have ADHD ritalin was awful but this works great, need less dose too
