I guess my answer was a little simplistic. My body does not get out of the recliner without sending shooting pains up through my feet and legs, thereby, waking me up to never sleep again that night. Ambien does work as a hypnotic but I am too old, fat and lazy to really get up and do something without knowing about it.

Have been taking ambien for a year and a half and now I need to get off of it and learn to sleep naturally again. Tried cold turkey and had a rough withdrawal so now I have just reduced the amount I was taking to 5mg. I need some advice as to how I can get off this drug? Thanks.

      Ambien Working / Worked
A year & a half a ago I started with 5mg then tried but didn't sleep during the night. I tried ambien CR but didn't like it. Was put on ambien 10 mg and have stayed on that until now. The side effects of eating & sleepwalking have become more pronounced. Now I want to stop but cold turkey had a nasty withdrawal. Would like to find out if anybody some advice as to how to get off this drug?
