I saw a comment you posted about how a friend of yours still has a normal sex life, just always uses condoms when she has sex (and is clear from an outbreak of course) but when i got diagnosed a year ago they told me it can also be contracted through your skin. they called it the "boxer shorts area" and said that any area of skin covered by boxers can potentially shed the virus. and you wouldnt be able to tell either. i mean obviously before and during a breakout, but it can also be at random. this is what makes me feel as though i need to tell all potential partners (which i have yet to do) and thats what really freaks me out/pisses me of... i dunno. were you & your friend given the same information??

I know there is shedding when there isn't an outbreak and that you can spread the virus by skin contact. I will have to get more info. I just don't want to think that every potential sex partner needs to know. I don't know I'm going to have to really think about this. The truth is that I just found out last week. I'm not having sex right now ha ha ha. The outbreaak is pretty much gone but nonetheless.....thanks for paying attention. It's important to share information and weed out the fact from the fiction. I really trust my OB she's amazing and I'm devouring as much information as I can. We are now part of the "club" good or bad don't know but it's mine now .

yeah i havent really gone to anyone..or talked to really anyone for that matter, about herpes since i was diagnosed. i try to just not think about it, to tell you the truth. and i have not told the guy i am sleeping with. i figure he must have it too, and know he has it. i found out i had it about 3 months after sleeping with him... so to make my life easier, i guess, i just pretend that we both know and have accepted it. but then when i think about it more i feel like he has no idea. and im some crazy psycho bitch not telling him. haha. and i'm not even a gemini! ;)

ha ha you're funny. why do you figure he must have it. I'm both surprised how many people tell me they have it after I open up about it and equally surprised when they don't. Or how much people don't know about it. So, it's a personal decision. I figure I an in this situation because of my behavior to a certain degree and so are they. Hmmm I won't try to put someone in harms way but we'll see. What do you do if you have an outbreak? Do you play the monthly visitor card?

Hey sorry i just now saw that response :) well, i figure he has it because we have been having unprotected sex for a year. most of that year i have known i have it. never told him :( and yes i am definitely in my situation because of my behavior. i think i would be much more pissed off if i had gotten herpes the first time i had sex or something....but that is far from the case! haha... so i figure he must have it and he hasnt told me anything either?! as far as what i do when i have an outbreak...i dont have outbreaks!! i had my primary one..and it was real bad...but after that i have been fine. when i feel like i might have one, (i feel the sensitivity and a kind of weird feeling down there...) i take 3 one gram valtrex in one day, and the feeling goes away. so i have been one year outbreak free! which is nice... you will learn how to control them too, as soon as you learn how to detect one coming!

i know, isnt it weird that now, before sleeping with someone, there is something to worry about (other than getting pregnant or an STD)...its like having a sexual relationship used to be something new and exciting and fun and possibly spontaneous! now its something i am constantly worrying about. the days of hot-1-night-stands are officially over!! haha, thats probably a good thing anyway...i hope you had fun on saturday!!! i
