About Me
hi. my name is fallon. i am a college student hoping to study music education. i have cerebral palsy. have survived domestic violence, and am a food addict. i am a christian and believe that god has given me the grace and strength to deal with all this. but i still have some issues with a few things, so i'm here. i am at peace and have come to terms with my disability. but as cp is a life-long disorder, there are new questions and situations pop up all the time. i have some lingering issues with the abuse i experienced. and i have just recently realized with god's help that i have a serious food addiction.

Congrats
I read one of your replies and I am amazed at the strength you have! My son is 9 and has CP. He is going through a lot of what you have been through. He's had one amazing teacher who explained away why he wore pull ups at age 7 (he was finally potty trained at 8). She explained it that since it's hard for him to walk and the bathroom is far from the class, it's easier to clean him up with a pull up than with underwear. The kids never teased him after that. She never explained more than what they needed at that time. He wears leg braces and uses a walker at school and a wheelchair for trips to his special ed class for his pull-outs. I go in each year to his class and talk to them and explain about his need for the adaptive equipment and bladder problems. I am always impressed with the kids' desire to help him. He usually has so many kids wanting to help, that he can't do much for himself. lol I wish I had known about this place when my son was first diagnosed! You are an inspiration to anyone with CP!!! Something that has helped me through my son's daily struggle is "God doesn't make mistakes" He uses people to show them His power, mercy, and grace! Lots of people have told me that seeing my son 'deal' makes it easier for them to deal with life, just like your friends. Sorry this was so long, I just wanted to let you know how I felt after reading your reply.

Close Food Addiction
I was 11 when i began binging and hiding food. i am now 21, and only began to realize in april that i have a serious food addiction. you can read more about how i came to DS in the thread "scared, but here i am" in the food addiction group.
Treatments
- Prayer Working / Worked
- "i pray daily. god is easier to talk to than most people."-anonymous
- Talking Working / Worked
- i have a close friend who is a recovered alcohalic. although our addictions are/were different, she understabds probably more than any of my friends. this group is also help tremendously.
- Writing Working / Worked
- i keep a regular personal journal in which i write poetry. this helps me a lot. i also blog when i binge. these blogs are semi-private-viewable only by a select group of friends. this is helping me because i know when i binge i have to blog, which makes me less likely to binge in the first place. also, it helps because my incredible friends always leave encouraging comments.
- DailyStrength Working / Worked
- this is helping tremendously with my food addiction. i was able to find out about treatments for my addiction i never knew about before.
Close Cerebral Palsy
i have cp
Treatments
- Heel Cord Lengthening Working / Worked
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- worked for a long time.i never really liked going to hospitals for PT. those therapists-even though i had known them for years-treated me WAY too much like a patient, and not enough like a person. the last place i went to was a private clinic. i went there from 2002-2007, but because of circumstances beyond our control, the clinic went under.
Open Physical & Emotional Abuse
in 2007-a year after i left my abusive mother-i started a web-based organization called RLDH (real love doesn't hurt)the websites listed on my profile are places where you can find out more.i left with the help of an amazing team of counsolers, teachers, and other angels who gave a scared teenager the strength to say enough is enough. i'm here to offer help to others who are still stuck, and maybe-just maybe-get some closure myself...finally.
Treatments
- Abuse Counseling Working / Worked
- while i was at the shelter, i was given intense group counsoling every other day.
- DailyStrength Working / Worked
- Forgiveness Working / Worked
- essential.
- Leave Working / Worked
- i left home at the the age of 18 and was immeditely placed in my local shelter's domestic violence program for 45 days.

- music has always been an outlet for me. i am a singer, songwriter, and piano keyboard player.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- god can heal you everywhere you hurt, if you just ask and are willing to help HIM help you.
- Talking Working / Worked

Open Migraine Headaches
i am here because i began having migraines a few years ago. the first one i had lasted from 11 am to 4:30 am the next day.looking for some friends and maybe a few new ideas i haven't tried.
Treatments
- Aspirin Somewhat Helpful
- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
- Excedrin Not Working
- my doc put me on this before i went to imitrex. it's so expensive, i only bought a 24 count bottle. it was gone in a week because i had to take 4 for it to help @ all. and even then, the migraines were never totally gone.
- Imitrex Working / Worked
- my doc put me on this after the excedrin. it's been wonderful. for the most part, all i have to do is take one and it will be gone in a half hour. there have been a few times i've had to take 2. medicaid only pays for 9 immitrex a month.
- Tylenol Not Working
- this is my go-to med for all my other pain. for my migraines,it didn't help at all.
- DailyStrength Working / Worked
- dailystrength is wonderful
Open Urinary Incontinence
i was diagnosed with an overactive bladder at 14. this was after years of having consistant accidents. my overactive bladder is caused by my cerebral palsy.
Treatments
- Detrol Working / Worked
- i was put on detrol immeadiately after being diagnosed. it worked very well. my only side effect was dry mouth. medicaid decided to stop paying for it
- Diapers Working / Worked
- Ditropan Not Working
- i hate it! i wish medicaid would pay for a pill that works. i have to take it 3xsday and imstill changing my diapers at least 2xs a day.
