Close Breakups & Divorce
STBX stated he wanted a divorce a year ago (April 2006). Did not want to try to work anything out-all my fault due to my "personality disorder." Stated that he had to "put himself first." Was resentful of the children. I have been a stay-at-home mom since the birth of my first child in 1999, by mutual choice. Never expected anything fancy, just to be able to give my children happy, "normal" childhoods. STBX is narcissistic, materialistic,& arrogant-puts HIS needs before childrens.
Treatments
- Couples Counseling Not Working
- He first refused, went in beginning-to tell me how I would never change, help me "accept." Offered to try again-2 sessions, just dwelling on the past & "my problems."
- Family Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- Personal therapy for myself, son (8yrs.)& daughter (5yrs.)
- Love Not Working
- Different values - do not view love in the same way.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- Still trying to find the right combination of antidepressants to be able to function and move ahead.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- Have the most amazingly supportive family. Feel guilty being/feeling so helpless at this stage of my life.
- Time Not Working
- STBX stated he wanted divorce - final, over, no working out, last April 2006. It's been a year & I feel I'm right back to where I was in the beginning.
Close ADHD / ADD
Son, 8 officially diagnosed last year. Have been juggling different meds since Oct. 2006. Strongly suspect that girls, 5 and 2 are also afflicted. Two year-old may be the worst! Told that usually not officially diagnosed until the age of 6. Currently in the middle of very difficult divorce which is affecting them and I am having a very difficult time handling them all on my own.
Treatments
- Concerta Not Working
- Seemed to work in the beginning. Lost some effect & raised dose. Period in Feb.2007 very bad-angry, agressive. Suspect behavior may have been result of situation w/dad
- Focalin Not Working
- Used for about a month when Concerta was stopped due to possibly making aggressive. No +effects -appeared more hyper & oblivious.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Initially took for counseling b/c of divorce situation. Referred to Psychiatrist by Pediatrician for med.mgmt.
- Daytrana Working / Worked
- Supposed to begin after 2 week period w/o any meds. Completing Connor's rating for both periods.
Open Sex / Pornography Addiction
Husband told me April 2006 he wanted a divorce, end of story - final May 4, 2007. Blamed me for everything. I felt there were other things he wasn't telling me. Keep finding out more and more - was it in part due to his addiction?
