About Me
Father of 16 year old son and 13 year old daughter and happy husband of 17 years. My wife and I are both in the pharmaceutical industry(biotechnology). I am a clinical manufacturing plant manager currently making coagulation drugs (recombinant based proteins). My PE occured in flight to Hawaii June 27, 2009 (DVT behind left knee). Took several days to diagnose. On Warfarin since July 1. Was released to fly home 7/14. Gradually feeling better. Still have chest pain, fatigue and anxiety but shortness of breath is much better.

Richard, I'm sorry you weren't able to get back to work this week. If you are still in pain, it's so hard to put that on the back burner because it's always there. It takes a while doesn't it?

Support Groups
Close Pulmonary Embolism
Suffered PE 17 days 21 days ago in flight to Hawaii. Took 3 days to diagnose. Still feel yucky.
Treatments
Close Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Have DVT behind left knee. On Warfarin for 2 weeks now (INR running between 2.4 to 2.8). Pain is increasing and now runs from groin down to calf along inner thigh.
Treatments
- Coumadin Working / Worked
- I am insisting on daily draws until I know I am at steady state. I won't let someone else bully me into dropping down below 2 and put my life at risk. No way! It is not acceptable and if they don't likie it, I will go somewhere else. It's my life. My advice is that you do the same. Nothing to mess around with. Both my lungs are peppered with PE because I was complacent. Lucky to be alive.
