Biopsy Mood
Monday, August 17, 2009 | A General Update story

Hey there,

I've been a little out of the loop lately - haven't been feeling well up until a few days ago.  Not sure why, just been feeling really off (kind of like how you feel right before you get the flu).  I don't know if it's food related or possibly the supplements I've been taking?  This is still all so new, I'm not sure what my triggers are yet.  I'm scared to eat just about everything- because of that (although that doesn't stop me from eating). :O)  I saw my endo. last friday and he said my levels looked much better and that it's a go for the biopsy.  There are 3 nodules they want to assess - that will be on Sept. 1st.  I'm a little apprehensive, more for the results than the actual biopsy (although I'm not jumping for joy over that either).  I'm praying that they're benign!  I could use any prayers you feel like sending my way also.  :O)

Take care,  Kristina

    Hi Kristina,
I am sorry to hear about your nodules, and am praying that they are benign. I know exactly how you feel about the foods and being afraid to eat anything. :(
I get that flu-y feeling whenever I started to go hypo. I'd get body aches and cramps and feel cold and shivery all over. This thyroid stuff sure sucks a lot! What a big drag! I hope you get better really soon!!
    Big hugs and prayers!!

    Thanks Hannahbee,
Fortunately I found out that the nodules are benign. Now my endo. is discussing having the RAI - I'm really confused, not sure if I should do it or not? I'm going to get a second opinion, and I've been asking around to hear people's stories. So far, it seems that staying on medication or a TT (total thyroidectomy) are coming out ahead. I'm definately not going to rush into anything just yet.
    Thanks and big hugs/prayers back at'cha! :O)

Yay!!!! I am so happy to know that your nodules are benign!! What a tremendous relief! I agree, not to rush into anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. I am uncomfortable with ablation as a treatment for my Graves', probably because I have other autoimmune stuff, and know that I'd still probably be sick after ablation if I didn't figure out how to calm my stupid immune system down somehow.
I alson feel like my endo has tried to mislead me. She told me that hypo would be healthy and that ablation would make my TED go away. It looks like neither are true. I really struggled being hypo, and my bad cholesterol levels and triglycerides would go through the roof when that happened, so I'm not sure how good that was for me, and I was only subclinical hypo.
I worry about being hypo for the rest of my life, and if there is anything I can do to avoid it I'm going to try it. At least I know that I responded well to levoxyl, having tried it already. Some people have to shop around for replacement after ablation, so I am glad that I at least know that I wouldn't have to do that, and that levoxyl would work.
Ablation is a big commitment and the meds bought me some time to think about it, and luckily I responded well to them. I hope that you get better soon!!
    Big hugs!!!
    Hannah
