I'm a chronic pain patient. I have an implanted "morphine pump" plus I take Methadone and Xanax daily (along with my 24/7 pump) daily. I get concerned when I hear people are dying by taking Methadone and Xanax (let alone the morphine pump I have), and I worry if I'm at risk but haven't been told so by my doctors?

Close Chronic Pain
Chronic pain started at age 34 (1984) , which has lead to 6 total hip replacements, 2 total knee replacements, and an implanted morphine pump for chronic spine pain. I've been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis and I'm currently 59 years old on full disability. I do work about 20 hours a week to keep active.
Treatments
- Heat Working / Worked
- Hot showers, heating pad which both help.
- Methadone Working / Worked
- I have a prescription for 3 -5mg.tabs of Methadone per day which works for pain.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- I'm on my 2nd implanted morphine pump which pumps morphine directly into my spine 24/7 and I have it refilled about every 6 weeks. Works great.
- TENS Working / Worked
- Bought a tens unit and it didn't help me at all.
- Xanax Working / Worked
- Prescribed 4- 1mg tabs daily which helps chronic stress which is paired with my chronic pain.
