    • About Me

I am a single 38 year old who was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome and Fibromyalgia in May of 2008. I worked with 3-5 year olds for 13 years as a Montessori educator, which was my passion. Unfortunately, I had to retire due to these diseases. I couldn't get well being around all of the germs constantly, so I had to make the difficult decision of walking away. Unfortunately, the Sjogren's has not gotten under control yet, and I am chronically having problems. I had to leave my dream job and my apt in NYC to move back in with my parents, not always so great, though I am thankful for them and to them. Currently I am not working and am trying to obtain SSD. I have had asthma almost all of my life, and was just recently diagnosed with Cushing's Syndrome as a result of my prednisone use. I am also in the process of finding out if I have sleep apnea, which every doctor I see thinks I do. I am looking to meet other people who have similar situations that I can talk to. It's nice to know that you aren't the only one out there.......You can never have too much info or meet too many people :) I look forward to making new friends here.

Thanks for the hug, I am new here and still trying to figure out how everything works. It is nice to know people who have Sjogren's and Fibro; and understand the frustrations of having both. I wonder if sleep apnea is a symptom of fibro becasue it seems most people who have fibro also have sleep apnea. I have central sleep apnea and sleep with a Pi-Pap ST.

Yes I sleep with a cpap mask. I wasn't crazy about the idea, but then once it helped me I LOVE it and don't know what I'd do without it! But, depending on what you have there are other treatments. I could have had a surgical procedure done, but NO WAY!!! Some people just need meds. It all depends on what is causing your sleep disorder. Let me know how it goes when you go for your sleep test. I'm glad we can be friends, support is so important!! I noticed you are an animal lover! Me too! I have a little toy poodle that I love so much, he's the bigger one in my avatar. The little one was my Maltese, but I lost her July 1st and still miss her so much!! I also have two cats, one of who is hanging on me right now!! Anyway, take care and I hope you have a low pain day today! Hugs, Donna

Welcome to the Sleep Apnea Group Debbie!! I have Fibromyalgia also and can no longer work because of the pain. So I've also filed for disability and am waiting on the outcome. A lot of people who have Fibro develop sleep apnea. I am so thankful that my doctors figured it out and now I finally sleep through the night, unless I'm in a really bad flare up and in the pain keeps me awake. I had Ovarian cancer, then went back to work and developed fibro, depression and anxiety/panic attacks. I had to quit and also had to move back in with my parents. It's very depressing, but it's what I need to do right now. I hope this group is helpful and helps you to get some answers. I'm also in the Fibromyalgia group and a member group called We Fibromites, which I don't know what I'd do without! I hope we can be friends on DS!!
