Close Endometriosis
I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2002, which is when I had my first lap procedure done. I have had 2 since that time, most recently this past April. i acutually fell worse after the surgery than I did before. My GYN, said I can expect long term pain until I start removing my female organs. I am only 36 and would still like to have kids one day. I am looking for help and suggestions.
Treatments
- Extended-Cycle Birth Control Working / Worked
- It worked for 5.5 years. No pain or spotting. Late in 2008, I got extremely sick causing my immune system to bottom out. Which inturn is believed to have my endometrosis flare back up. during my most recent lap, my left ovary is fused to the pelvic wall and my descending colon was adhered to the left ovary as well. Ever since that surgery in April of this year, I have been spotting and cramping extremely bad. I no longer think the B/c is controlling the endo.
- Laser Surgery Working / Worked
- It worked on my first 2 surgerys, pain went away. However after my 3 surgery, I am still having issues with bleeding and cramping
- Lupron Working / Worked
- It worked but had terrible side effects. Gained weight moody irritable and horrible hot flashes
Close Celiac Disease
just recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, struggling to learn how to eat, what foods to avoid, what questions to ask when eating out
Treatments
- Gluten Free Diet Working / Worked
- My pains have gotten much better, but still accidently eat products with gluten in it. Very hard to learn what works and what doesn't.
Open Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Offically diagnosed with CFS in Feb 2009. I am looking for advice on how to manage through the life changes that come with CFS.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
- This worked to a point. However, when dose was increased to 90 mg, starting having severe side effects - stammering when speaking, memory loss, essentially became extremely comotose.
- DHEA Too Soon to Tell
- I was on a supplement for 1 month, b/c it was found that my level was extremely low. I had so much else going on at the same time, I am not sure if it helped or not.
- Klonopin Working / Worked
- I am actually on this for my GI issues (enteric nerve dysfunction), but have noticed that I do have a bit more enery since taking it. Could be b/c my gut feels better?
Open Fibromyalgia
Diagnosed in 2007 and subsequently diagnosed with CFS in 2009. Looking for support on how to manage both.
Treatments
- Cymbalta Somewhat Helpful
- worked at first but when increased to 90 mg, i suffered extreme side effects: memory loss, stammering while speaking, etc.
- Heat Working / Worked
- I live with a heating pad. It is a saving grace for me.
- Lexapro Not Working
- The benifits did not outweigh the side effects disconnected with my feelings weight gain bruising.
Open Gastritis
been suffering with Gastritis for over a year now. It comes and goes. Looking for a forum to learn more about controlling it.
Treatments
- Levsin Working / Worked
- This was my "happy pill". I never left home without them. they worked within 15 minutes. At times when I knew I was eating somethign that would bother my stomach. I was told that they no longer make this. I have tried other drugs that are suppose to work the same and yet to find one that worked like Levsin.
- Nexium Working / Worked
- Primarily take it for my GERD. Mine is so bad right now that I take 2 of the purple pills a day. Expensive, but worth it.
- Dietary Modification Working / Worked
- avoid garlic spicy foods acidic foods Chocolate fried foods. It has helped. Every once in a while I do splurge and eat one of the above mention. But pay for it later.
Open Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Have been suffering with IBS-C for almost 25 years (Diagnosed very young). It comes and goes but has really been bad for the past 6 months. Not sure if linked to my endometrosis. Looking for folks who have endo and IBS-c to compare stories.
Treatments
- Bentyl Not Working
- This did nothing for me. I was on it for a month and decided it wasn't worth the money.
- Colace Not Working
- I took this 2 times a day for 3 or 4 months. It did not help at all. Infact, my constipation got worse.
- Probiotics Working / Worked
- Activia did work for me, unfortunately I can not longer eat it to due the amount of sugars in it. I have also been diagnosed with insulin resistence.
- Amitiza Working / Worked
- Was so optimistic about this new drug I had heard such good things about it. I tried it for 3 months and it did not help my consitpation at all infact it gradually got worse. I have quit taking it bc of the cost in addition that I was not benifiting from it.
