I'm so sorry you are in so much pain. I have just been reading your journal. I can relate so much to how you are feelings and the lost time. We will never get it back. I have just been put on Lyrica and Oxycontin. I am also still on Tramal (Ultram in some places.) I have started seeing a new pain doctor who has found out the cause of my cp. I have an impingement of a nerve and a bulge in a disc in my back. After all these years,I finally found someone who got off their backside and decided to do some tests. He told me it's no wonder everything else I have had done has failed. I am now facing spinal surgery which Dr Jackson said is the only way to fix it. I have been told that the Lyrica can take a few weeks to work. I hope you can struggle on. I know if it wasn't for my hubby and son I probably would have done something to myself. Please take care and I'm always here for you.

Hi Lenore. I'm sorry to read that the doctors can't block the nerve for you. Is there anything that can be done? I had the nerve cut in April,but that didn't work. I've had two nerve blocks in the past and had the nerve frozen twice but they didn't work. I hope this new pain doctor can do something. Hang in there. Take care and here for you.

Chronic NervePain since 2005 RCC status post nephrectomy -remission
Treatments
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Tried it for several months. Wrecked my Libido and didn't help with pain so stopped using it.
- Flexeril Somewhat Helpful
- Helped with muscle tightness but made me too drowsy. Also didn't do much for pain so switched to pain killers.
- Heat Working / Worked
- Works when the pain is moderate but ICE is better for acute pain.
- Lidoderm Not Working
- Didn't work at all for me.
- Lyrica Working / Worked
- I noticed a difference when I began taking this but now I'm not so sure it's having any effect. I take 150 mg 2xd
- Marijuana Considering
- I'd like to try this if it becomes legal. I've heard that it works wonders for nerve pain. RI just made it legal for pain sufferers so there is hope. Make it Legal NOW!
- Meditation Not Working
- Who can meditate while in pain? I can't.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- Works better than anything else. Make me constipated but I'd rather be that than in severe pain.
- Nerve Blocks Working / Worked
- Trigger point injections work for about 24 hours on me. It's the lidocaine in them that work. The steroids don't help at all.
- Neurontin Not Working
- HOLY MENTAL PROBLEMS BATMAN! I had to stop becuase the mood swings were incredible! Crying one second manic the next. No thanks. I get how it works though. You forget you're pain because you're too busy being Crazy!
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Oxycodone worked for me but became so hard to get without the tylenol in it I switched over to morphine. Big Pharma should cater to the needs of patients instead of following the money. HA! like that'll ever happen.
- Physical Therapy Not Working
- NO WAY! There's no way anyone could lay their hands on my ribs. I'd go through the roof!
- TENS Considering
