    • Close Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

In January of 2009 I suddenly had terrible pain my shoulder and neck. The doctor originally thought it was a herniated disk. 3 MRI's, x rays, EMG's, and 6 kinds of doctors later it was agreed upon that I have TOS. I am now on medication for nerve pain and just generally pain meds, but this is not how I want to live the rest of my life. I cannot work in my current job but they will not approve me for disability. In need of some support and treatment options.

      Treatments

      Neurontin Somewhat Helpful
I have been on Gabapentin for almost a month now. I am at about 300 mg a day and they want me up to 900. Which is 3 pills 3 times a day. The Gabapentin is obviously not "curing" me it is just masking the pain. I don't want to be stuck on 3 pills 3 times a day for the rest of my life. It makes me so tired I can hardly function and all I want to do is eat!
      Physical Therapy Somewhat Helpful
The physical therapy has not done much but provide some support and reassurance. I am usually in too much pain for them to actually work on TOS type exercises. I go about once a week, but was twice a week for awhile.
