      My mum has suffered from reflux for 7mths, finally she had an endoscopy which revealed a thickening of the esophagus & a 'cork screw?' she was told this was relatively common in elderly peoply can anyone explain this or know if there is a cure???

      Treatments

      Antacids Not Working
      Mylanta didn't help at all
      Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working
      Cut out all acidic food, wine, spicy food etc
      Dietary Modification Not Working
      Tried pureed food and now is on a peg feed 24/7
      Nexium Not Working
      This and other similar drugs had no effect, e.g. Losec, Somac
      Prilosec Working / Worked
      As above
      Raising Bed Position Not Working
      No benefit
