Close Colon Cancer
Stage: IV (Any T, Any N, M1)

Had been having abdominal cramping, blood in stool, and pencil thin stools. Had a colonoscopy Feb 8th 2008 and in an instant my life changed forever. I had stage IV colon cancer. Had surgery Mar 08 - a foot of colon was removed and they discovered 16 out 20 lymph nodes were positive. The surgeon did some searching and found a tumor on the surface of my liver, which he removed. I had 12 chemo treatments and today everything seems to be good. I get a cat scan and PET scan when ever I can.

Treatments

5-FU Working / Worked

12 treatments of what I called my 'margarita pump'. lol! I wasn't going to sit on the couch and let this disease 'take me' so I carried that pump to work and everywhere I went. Working kept me sane!

Avastin Working / Worked

Had 8 treatments then had to stop because of high proteins.

Chemotherapy Working / Worked

Oxaliplatin Working / Worked

I had 10 treatments and it left me with neuropathy in my hands and feet. The hands are doing much better today but my feet still get sore. It feels like I have a balloon tucked under my toes.

Surgery Working / Worked

My surgeon is wonderful. Under God, I credit him with being the second biggest contributor of saving my life. When he saw how many lymph nodes were positive, he went searching for more cancer. God Bless him!
