After not being on ANY meds for several years, we started Geodon last night before bed.
It was a long and difficult decision to start meds up again, after what happened last time, but the other choice is to keep deteriorating and most of us just can't do that. SO, back to meds.
The new psychiatrist says she doesn't like doing any more than one new med at a time (which we think is excellent) and Geodon seems like a great first choice. It seems like it has the potential to change a lot of things that bite in our life.
Took it around 19.30 last night and couldn't stay awake past 20.00. It knocked us out for a good 12 hours. We tried getting up after 10 hours, but had to go back to bed. We were a little afraid we were going to be trash all day.
BUT ...
We've felt really good after getting up the second time. In fact, we've been spending the day outside with our partner system and things are going really well. We feel calmer, in general, without being weighed down. Our mood hasn't swayed today, either. Time will tell how much is really the medication and how much is just today, but for now we're looking forward to it.
