What more can SjS throw at me? Mood
Friday, October 9, 2009 | A Venting story
After such a good week last week this week has been so disheartening!  I ended up leaving work by ambulance on Wednesday.  I was feeling a tightness in my chest and was having difficulty taking a deep breath with out pain so my employer insisted on calling the squad instead of someone just taking me the 1 mile trip to the hospital!  How embarassing!!!!  so of course I was put through the whole heart attack scenario including nitro spray, baby aspirin and ekg's.  Then they were worried about possible blood clot on my lungs from the trip last week.  So they did a CT scan.  Of course I am allergic to the iodine so they had to give me hefty drugs to counter act that.  Then they gave me injections in my stomach of blood thinners.  I kept repeating to everyone that I had SjS hoping they would settle down and listen to me describe the pain.  After 5 hours they admited me so they could observe and do a series of blood tests to rule out for sure that I hadn't had a heart attack.  The attending Doc in the hospital finally came in and listened and felt that more than likely it was pleurisy!  But he still kept me and finished with the blood tests.  They came back negative and they released me the next morning with no restrictions, no precription or instructions on what I should do to get rid of this or how to take care of it.  My Rheumy is out on thursdays so I had to leave a message.  I called back this morning and she had ordered all my information to be faxed but by the time she left the office this evening it still hadn't shown up.  Just glad I have good insurance!  Thanks for listening sorry to rant! :-)

Wow! That was just awful but I am glad that you are okay though. I sure hope you're feeling better again. Maybe time for another vacation? (lol)

Changes in Lattitude = Changes on Atitude Mood
Wednesday, September 30, 2009 | A Positive story

Not sure if it's because I'm on vacation or if the North Carolina Beach is the cure but I have been completly pain free for FIVE days now.  I was even able to get out in the waves and play with my pup Coach.  Am anxious to see if the symptoms return when I go home.  Hopefully it is mainly a factor that the Plaquenil has finally started doing a complete job.  Otherwise we will have to try and figure out how we can move here sooner!

Things are evening out! Mood
Saturday, September 12, 2009

Things are finally settling down with my life!

My Mother is starting to recover from her hospital stay.  They finally figured out she had a case of ecoli.  She is regaining her strength so it isn't quite the demand on my Dad.

My son Kenneth is settling in with school in Hong Kong.  The 1st week was an adjustment and we had some things to iron out with the University here state side but all seems to be going well now.  He might be a little home sick but all in all he seems to be enjoying the experience.  Sent him a package of food he is missing...at $28 for 3 1/2 pounds that won't happen often!  He'll just have to wait till he gets home to enjoy the things he is missing.

My baby Michael started his Senior year!  Where does the time go?  He did early enlistment in the Air Force and will begin basic training next summer.  That will make our last year of school a little easier without out all the college visits and paperwork.  I am so proud of him.  He has talked about doing this for over 6 years so I know this is something he hasn't decided on lightly.

Work will always be work! :-(

But 2 weeks from today I will be sticking my toes in the sand and watching the waves come in on the ocean!  I am so thankful I haven't developed any reaction to the sun with my SjS.  Not sure how I would cope.  When I am sitting in the sun on that beach I feel better than I ever do anywhere else.  Maybe it's a mind thing or maybe it's a latitude thing.  Whatever it is, it sure makes me feel almost like I did before the SjS! :-)

Hope you all are having a good week!

Sonya - How on earth did your poor mother get that? That is just awful.

Glad you're getting to enjoy the sand between your toes and the warmth of the sun. Soon enough will be yucky cold......

My, your youngest is a senior... My younest will be 25 Thursday. Yes, time sure did fly. What is your son studying in Hong Kong?

Not sure how Mom contracted it.

Kenneth is just doing basic course work for his degree, just doing it in Hong Kong. He is majoring in finance and business management systems with a minor in international business. He was given this opportunity ans a small scholarship to study in Hong Kong through the university. He is having quite the experience!
