I'm married, with two daughters, and two grandchildren, work in the legal / social service, child welfare profession for past 29 years. Enjoy playing with my grandkids, having the family together, love to garden, yoga, attend live music shows. Just started setting more goals and dreams. Enjoyed excellent health until February 2009 ....when RA struck.

Thanks so much for the hug! I am just making myself sick over this. I come from a real guilt inducing type family. To top this off I am having serious trouble with my teenage son and my husband and I are not getting along..... :(

Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
February 2009, knuckles on right hand swelled up, with pain. Saw Primary, he said it was osteo arthritis, tried anti-inflammatory meds. Referred to Orthopedic, he tried prednisone. Sent me to get MRI, showed lesion on the brain. Referred me to neurologist, who referred me to neurosurgeon, more MRI's. He didn't think needed surgery, referred me back to neuro, who referred me to Mayo Clinic and to rheumatologist. More MRI's led to RA diagnosis, erosion in cartilage and bone in right hand.
Treatments
- Enbrel Too Soon to Tell
- Just had three doses so far.
- Methotrexate Too Soon to Tell
- After two weeks, Dr. decided Enbrel was needed in addition to MTX.
- Prednisone Not Working
- I can't tell it's doing anything for swelling.
