My doctor just told me I have narcolepsy
Treatments
- Dexedrine Too Soon to Tell
- I think I'm having some side effects that may or may not make continuing this drug possible.
- Provigil Working / Worked
- It seemed to help somewhat, but got facial tics once my doctor upped my dose.
- Ritalin Somewhat Helpful
- I helped a little bit. I didn't have any side effects, but still had a lot of problem with sleepiness during the day.
- Xyrem Not Working
- I only took this for 4 days before having a bad reaction to it, so did not continue taking it.
Close Organ Transplants
Types: Kidney (Renal)My son had a kidney transplant 12 years ago (when he was 5 years old). I was his donor.
Treatments
- Cellcept Working / Worked
- He took this up until his first rejection episode 5 years post transplant. He had SEVERE diarrhea from this medication.
- Cyclosporine Working / Worked
- Worked for a while, but then psych meds for autism interfered with drug levels and he had a rejection episode. He was then taken off this and put on Prograf.
- Gancyclovir Working / Worked
- He took his for the first 6 months following his kidney transplant. No problems with it.
- Kidney Transplant Working / Worked
- After 4+ years on peritoneal and hemo dialysis, he got a kidney transplant. He just celebrated his 12th transplant anniversary.
- Prograf Working / Worked
- Seems to be working fine. Getting the levels to remain stable has been a challenge.
- Rapamune Working / Worked
- It seems to be working fine. Only side effect he had a first was diarrhea.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Hes been on this the entire 12 years post transplant with very few side effects. He does have osteoperosis but that could also be related to being born with kidney failure.
