    • Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

on mother's day this year, i was taken to the ER, because i was suffering from the worse headache, a pain that felt greater than childbirth. i do not have a history of headaches, only one other time, prior to this event. it was progressive, after i could get the pain to subside with a couple of motrin, although it was still present, i could function. eventually motrin could not help, and i became horribly ill, which made the pain worse. i had no idea what was happening, i assumed i had swine flu. they ran a whole series of tests including a CT scan, spinal tap and blood work. they quickly ruled out all immediate life threatening illnesses, but saw that my spinal tap results on the final tubes, showed highly elevated white blood cells (lymphocytes) and highly increased proteins. my peripheral tests were completely normal. this spinal tap was not done with intent to find ogliobands, indicating MS. after one month, i began to feel better, one day i felt incredible, simply fantastic and then 6 hours later every single muscle in my body was sore and tired. i had various pains, while my body mended, rib pains, jaw pains, eye pains and my favorite, a facial muscle spasm, that i liked to call tic, that stayed with me for over a month, but finally subsided. that was awful, not painful, just annoying. various things continue to happen, like mild rib discomfort, and mild jaw discomfort. recently i have been experiencing different, unusual symptoms, like yesterday, my whole right leg felt as though it fell asleep, but not really completely pins and needles, just a mild sensation from thigh to ankle, but it didn't last. another new symptom, is an electrical charge that soars through my legs, both legs, starts at my hips and shoots down, sending my legs up in the air. the past couple of weeks, a couple of days in the week, my feet have been cramping. an awful forcing cramp, that makes my feet curl, hurts tremendously. i have been given 2 possible diagnosis, MS or hormonal related migraines. i had an MRI, and small lesions were dictated on my brain, but my spinal cord is clear. wait and see, approach. but things continue to happen, but it is manageable for me. i have been very focused on my nutrition, exercise and stress reduction.
