Staycation Mood
Thursday, August 13, 2009 | A General Update story

One more day of work, and then I'm taking a week off! I'm staying home, my new house that I moved in about 2.5 months ago. My plan is to sleep in, go for long walks, bike rides, work in the yard, unpack boxes, and get organized. I'm going to relax and enjoy, with no stress of getting somewhere, and run around to meet up with as many as possible in a short period of time.

I'm feeling pretty good these days, but every little thing I feel in my back or belly area freaks me out. Hopefully I can start improving my endurance, and push myself a little bit when trying to get in better shape.

Tomorrow I have my next CT scan and X-ray. The last one was 4 months ago. I'm feeling all right, and I am definitely less fatigued than before. I do need to take my rest though, and make sure I get enough sleep. I walk every day for exercise, and make sure I eat healthy. I'm trying to stay positive, but every time I feel something unusual in any part part of my body I'm concerned.

CT-scan and chest X-Ray both looked normal (=good!). I'm very happy and thankful, it feels like a weight is slowly rolling off my shoulders. I'm more relaxed, and am really enjoying every day right now. For now no worries about small aches and pains, and trust that the future will be as it needs to be.

Little patience Mood
Friday, July 24, 2009
I have very little patience these days, and I'm very easily annoyed. I'm so close to snapping, both at people I really like, and people I don't like very much. The surgery was 6 months ago, but the notion of dealing with cancer is still sinking in. I'm still processing these emotions, and also the ones of my sister-in-law passing away (41, also cancer), and the departure of the man I was dating. I need to find a new balance and a new focus.

You've been through a lot, and are continuing to have to deal with emotions and scenarios that are new and scary. You have a right to be a little cranky. Take care of yourself and stay in contact with us here on DS - we all care and understand.

Thank you for your support! It has been a tough year so far, but it feels good to know I'm not alone.

First entry, back on a health program Mood
Friday, July 10, 2009 | A General Update story

7/10/2009

Surgeries are now 5 months behind me, my first CTscan and X-ray check up looked good, and I'm feeling okay. Now it's time to start working a bit harder towards staying healthy, as far as it is within my reach. For a couple of months I was below my target weight, but it creeped back up. My goals is to loose that 4 pounds again over the next 6 weeks. Also, I'll have to keep walking at least an hour a day, get back on my bike, and re-start doing sit-ups. A healthy life style didn't keep cancer away, but at least it helped my recovery quite a bit.

It has been good to join the RCC support group, and meet other patients on line.
