Congrats on the Adoption...hope all continues to go well...
So, you are living with her and can't pay the rent, so you feel like you should just keep quiet? I understand that. Maybe there could be a song you hum to yourself each time she says something... Like "just what makes that little old ant, think he can move a rubber tree plant..." LOL. I've been trying to work on answers to things like that, like the "could be worse" list. I've been telling my 4-yo grandson, who has quite a temper, to take a deep breath and BLOW his mad at something, like the dog, or that guy standing over there eating something, or at his brother at the computer... anything that makes him laugh at the thought. Works some of the time.
So glad to hear your good news.
We all have those days. Do you say those things to your mother when she says them? Ask her, when you aren't so close to blowing up, just exactly what she wants you to do? Does she want you to beat him? How does she think a 4-year-old is supposed to act? What does she want you to say when she says that about your husband. She probably doesn't even realize she is doing it. We call my mother Eeyore because that is how she talks, and now we can all laugh about it when she does it. We say "lets eat outside because its so nice," and she will say "It will probably rain" or "There will probably be bugs." And she says it in this perfect Eeyore voice. I would tell her flat out that when she says those things it is really stressing you out and she KNOWS you are already pushed.
LOL... but THIS time they really mean it!! Today is really bad. Read my post in that "Harrassment" thread and please let me know what you think... Do I still just let daughter sit there and work it out with public defender or do I hire a lawyer with my sad 401K money? I worried that family is going to get their hands on the boys at some point, if HE gets out first.
