Close Pulmonary Embolism

I'm 29 and had a bilateral PE in May 2009, possibly caused by a combination of birth control and an 8 hour car ride.

Treatments

Heparin Working / Worked

I don't know for sure if it worked but I was on a heparin drip in the hospital for 9 days while I was waiting for my INR to reach 2.

Lovenox Working / Worked

Again, don't know if it worked. I only had three shots of it my last two days in the hospital (days 9 and 10) while I was waiting for my INR to reach 2. I found it very painful (it burned) for about ten minutes after the injection and it left a nasty bruise.

Coumadin Too Soon to Tell

Ive been on it since May 16th. It took 10 days for me to reach an INR of 2. Then it stayed steady for a couple of weeks with a dosage of 7.5mg. Suddenly it dropped to 1.76 so they upped me to 10mg. In one week I shot up to 3.13 but they are keeping me on 10mg because my doctor thinks I should be in the 2.53.5 range. On it I feel absolutely exhausted. I havent experienced any other side effects... yet.

Close Bell's Palsy

I developed Bells Palsy two days after I came home from the hospital with my twins.
