one day i looked at my fiance and noticed he had the most yellow eyes i said wow whats wrong with you never in a million years would i have thought that it could be hep c mainly because thats just not soemthing i think of i ama mom x 5 so i stay so busy ...so here we go off tot he er to see whats up they run blood wrok ultra sounds on him then send him home to wait ..4 sleepless days later my eyes turn more yellow than his my skina bright glowing yellow like a spray on tan and he seemingly looked normal i was wondering what could be going on with all this still not thinking of the the hep c thing so i go to the dr with him to get his tests (labs ) while walking in the dr said wow you look sicker than him ..i was like yeah i know can you please tell us whats going on he says son you have hep c and then looked at me me and says looks like you do to .i broke down like a baby cried uncontrolably still do i have to out look on life at this point i cried forever it seemed and stilldo alot i left there went to te the erhad my test done they did a ct scan looking for blockages and found none my urine was so dark it looked like a dark black color they all where like wow i am the sadest person ever born today ...just wondering what more i can handle...

we were just discussing this the other day. when i was a teenager i contracted hepatitis. my skin & eyes turned yellow until i "cleared" the virus (on my own i'm assuming, cause i did not do treatment) i have had ?flare-ups? since, and have never turned yellow again. we were thinking maybe the yellow happens the initial time of contraction. same thing happened to the person i was talking to, yellow only one time, a long time ago.
just a thought. ask your doctor to be sure.

start drinking a lot of water, that may help clear your urine some.
take your weight, divide it in half.
that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking in a day.
if you weigh 120, you should be drinking 60 oz of water a day.
that's 3-4 16oz bottles, or 5 12oz bottles
if you weigh 170, you should be drinking 85 oz of water a day.

start reading the main board and advice board.
get some friends on your friend list, find someone who is close to the same point you are and stick together--makes things a whole lot easier.
take a deep breath, try to quit crying, you'll be fine.
get yourself a notebook. take it with you to the doctor.
write down any questions you have so you won't forget to ask the Dr
write down stuff your Dr tells you while you're there.
especially in the beginning. you're already upset, and it's hard enough to remember everything anyway.

thank you i just saw this reply didnt even know it was here til today ..i have been back to the dr several times and confirmed my illness im think im in denial lol i was put in the hospital a few days ago my liver enzymes where 1800 he said i was so yellow i was scared silly now they say i have diabetes go me lol so they made me eat crappy eggs that looked like rubber i was like whats next ..and even i should have known better than to say that cause something else alwasy happens when you do lol so they realeased me and after a day at home i tried to get out of bed and my legs woulds not work the where like charley horses in the backs of both and severe swelling ..i once again was so mad i mean its kinda hard to not be when u go from doing everything to needing so much help ..thank you for writing im going to celebrate the 4th with the family today even if i have sit all day guess ill just get the rest ....love tamie

Hello Tamie, nice to meet you.
My bf (hubby) was diagnosed with hep c in 2000.
Our Doctor, wanted to test both out daughter and i, just to be on the safe side.
Our daughter was negative, but I was positive.
So we both started to do the testings, procedure, and finally treatment, for one year, since we were both type 1a.
Type 1a is the hardest to clear, which is why we must do 11 months of these chemo combo treatment.
These treatment are a form of chemo, without the radiation.
You must both immediately quit the alcohol, or else the damto your liver can be so bad, that the only thing that will help is a liver transplant.
Cause is you both have cirrohsis of the liver, advance stage, you guys won't be able to go on these meds, they will do more harm than good.
So quitting drinking is imparative at this point.
I will continue to read and reply to the other journal entries you have wrote in order to know you both better.
Then we shall see when you are seeing your liver doctor, I will give you a list of questions regarding tests, and of course the biopsy, which is a procedure you will have done at the hospital.
It's a 5 hours stay at the hospital.
