I was about to POP 40 years ago with Bev my first child. She was over due right about now and I thought I was going to be pregnant
F O R E V E R...LOL I was so wise and intelligent for 19. They call that a teenage mother now days. Then it was the norm in the South. You grew up got out of High School and went to college to find a husband.
I rode horses right up to the week she came, and I still think all that time on horseback made me shoot her out like a field hand! Only spent one night in the Hospital. Then I was on my own.
I never felt love like that EVER! I sort of knew then I didn't love my husband, cause this feeling for this little pink rose was all encompassing.
I would look into her face and breathe her scent, it was like peering into heaven. She had and has the oldest eyes they were so out of place in that pixie face. Everyone commented on them. It was if God sent her to take care of me; not the other way around.
It was the day before Valentines when she was born, and it was a day of changes for me. I knew that I would never walk this earth alone again. There would always be someone to represent me here. I knew that I had to be the very best Mother that I could be, she deserved that and more.
We are friends now, and we both have been through so much. She was here only last evening, picking up my grandchildren; smiling and talking about today's Historical Marker for us all. All I could do was look at those eyes and know I did a good job! That she is teaching young minds and reaching out in so many ways to make the World a better place. They are still old eyes and they have comforted me so many times, I guess I will be gazing into them when I take my last breath...I can only hope.

What a beautiful story! I am so inspired as to relate to others what you have written! I too have had that same experience, but don't think that I could have phrased it quite as well.

There is no love like the one that fills you when you hold your child for the first time, no words have been created yet that describe this feeling. What a great story, thanks for sharing it with us.
