So life on meds seems okay so far. Though I'm only a few days into it. I feel pretty tired and my eyes are having mild difficulty focusing. But my mood feels very stable.
I was sleep deprived when I met with the doctor. I remember him saying something about wanting to do a blood draw on me to test for some genetic thing. Apparently there's some gene involved in creating certain neurotransmitters that may play a role in many bipolar cases. Thus rather than normal meds I could take certain vitimins or something that give my brain a molecule a little closer to the final product to work with to make up for this faulty gene. I wonder if he's talking about taking 5-htp. Wouldn't that be something if all I really needed was some 5-htp to get me all stable?
I was too tired to ask him questions about it or remember what gene it was, even though I asked him to repeat it so I could look into it later.
I never got paperwork for bloodwork... maybe I wandered out of the office before it was ready. Perhaps I will call and ask. He faxed the presciptions right to the pharmacy, so maybe he said the bloodwork order was sent right to the lab.
That would be pretty cool if I just needed something like 5-htp or something. No drowsiness, no lethergy, no fuzziness, no corroding liver and kidneys. I definitely need to look into that.
