About Me
have had OCD/GAD for 35 years, have seen many shrinks and taken many meds. At one time, was diagnosed with BDD, Social anxiety, some tricholitillmania (sp?), and depression in addition to OCD/GAD. Also thought I had PTSD at some point in younger life. I have lived in NY, CT, MA and now NH. I have a BS in Marketing from a small private college just outside Boston. I worked in sales/marketing in the hi-tech field. Now "retired" due to decades of severe to extreme cases of OCD and GAD.

Interests
At 50 yrs old, no longer play sports, but loved playing basketball, tennis, snow skiing, water skiing, softball and football until my late 20's/early 30's. Like to talk and read about politics, financial mkts, US history, world history, psychology, real estate and cars. Not much into music anymore but still like rock n roll and some top 40 (U2, the who, tom petty, van halen, fleetwood mac, 38 special, steely dan and more). Like to work out as much as possible ( less than more these days!) and would love to feel better and work again and travel.

Laughing here...I hope you get no ideas of doing a sit in it did work for me but I dont want the blame if you get locked up LMAO....The answer easy finding a good doctor he or her does not have their certificates polished and displayed in front of your nose look for the dusty ones not hanging straight seriously a good luck wish that your path crosses with the right person

hi like what you have to say about ocd,thought my son had pure 0 to be told last week it is adhd,im feeling so down that it might be my fault bad parenting etc...

Close Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
I am 50. OCD/GAD started at age 15. At one time I was severe/extreme. Been to 24 shrinks, tried 12 meds, read alot and been to many support groups. Main symptoms are scrupe, driving fears and thought checking plus the generic fear of GAD.
Treatments
- Anafranil Not Working
- did not help.Multiple side effects.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- went to 4 BT's. 2 were useless and 2 helped. The improvement was minimal to moderate.
- Luvox Not Working
- took for 4 months...no help.
- Paxil Not Working
- Have taken for 10 yrs now. No help but cannot get off it. Withdrawal problems.
- Seroquel Not Working
- complete waste. Only took for 2-3 days.
- Zoloft Not Working
- did not help.
Close Medical Mysteries
been suffering for 6.5 yrs with a mystery illness. been to many mds and taken many tests. all tests negative. getting sicker every year.

- taken for 12 years. cannot get of of it. withndrawal symptoms too much.

- cannot get off of it.....withdrawal symptoms too strong.
- Zoloft Not Working
- no good
- Celexa Not Working
- no good
- Anafranil Not Working
- side effects no help.
